Bought a Russian Saiga AK47.
Well, its not "technically" an AK47 due to a few parts being tweaked in order to get around US import regulations. It is however the absolute best AK47 derivative made, and its manufactured at the Russian Arsenal factory with the original Kalishnikov AK's are made.
Here's a pic of what mine looks like, except mine has the optional factory side mount scope mount with a scope.

Congratulations. Will you use that to defend your home from potential invaders?

A shotgun would be best for that,

It'll be there ready, but I have other guns more suitable for that. I just wanted this to plink with and just to have. I used to have an AK47 a few years back and sold it.

Why yes, we should.
Mine's Romanian and I've got the 40 round magazines with it. I prefer the original pistol grip over this style. But still...it's a sweet rifle. Have some fun plinking with that one.
And as for the question of "home defense", naah. probably not. A pistol is good to fight your way to a shotgun with. A shotgun of course will let you fight your way to a rifle. But if you are defending your home...it's not gonna last THAT long. Nice for sending a few dozen rounds after a peeping tom though...you know...they never did come back.

See, the problem with Email, message boards and the like is that sarcasm never comes across very well. So, I guess instead of saying "Will you use that to defend your home from potential invaders?", I should have been more straighforward, and just asked, "What the hell are you doing owning a gun like that anyways?"
Seriously, what's the point. For "plinking" (as you guys call it) in your backyard on the weekends? That sounds fantastic. Me, I like to go to Chuck E. Cheeze's on the weekend with the wife and kids and get a coupla pies, but maybe I'll have to reconsider things.
(NOTE: The last two sentences of the preceding paragraph is meant to be sarcastic. Apologies in advance for any confusion this may have caused.)

In your original reply to goose, I knew you were being sarcastic, and I chuckled, because it was non serious question, because who really uses there ak47 to defend thier home right? I get ya... But it is ironic, that everyone here replies with, "nah I got something better than that, I got me a Bazooka" in there non-chalantness. LOL Im cracking the hell up actually...
Just for the record, im not dissing anyone one, I love you guys, and you guys n gals crack me up. theres some good humor here. Just thought id clear things up, since it doesnt comes across the right way over the internet. lol...

Indeed it is. I havent shot it yet, for there are limited places to do that around here, but none the less its sweet. The quality is far superior to the Norinco AK that I used to have, that one felt like it was going to fall apart in your hands. This one is very solid and rigid. I of course dont "need" this gun, but who wouldnt like to have a great semi-auto rifle in there arsenal. Not to mention its a good idea to buy these things up before next year just in case.

lol... no its very beautiful. Ive played with many guns, but unfortunately I always find other things to do with my money. One day I will own a gun. I think that will be my next big purchase after buying a house. then the other dilema is, theres only 2 shooting ranges around here that I know of. and I know theres waiting lists to get into them, my dad waited years before he got in adams. The agony of having a gun, and not being able to play with it would suck.

The range I go to is for pistol ammo only, so I have to go to either a friends house out in the country or drive about half an hour to another range, which is no big deal really. This is the last gun I'm going to buy for awhile.

thats what the ranges near us are too. like my ex girlfriend for example, her family was super into the NRA, and we would go out to adams (range) and her dad would bring his 22mm assault rifle, but he would have som conversion thing that went in the clip... I dont remember now, but it basically was to hold the smaller shells as opposed to the rifle shells. <--- im very uneducated about guns as you can tell.

He probably had an AR .223 with the 22 cal upper reciever conversion kit which allows you to shoot the cheaper and smaller caliber 22 shells. Great for just target shooting.
