That's a good point too.
Being the first one to introduce a weapon into a 1 on 1 street fight is a bitch move though, unless of course your life is on the line.
There's a difference between asking a man to 'step outside' and mixing it up with someone who is intent on really harming you. The problem is, outside of the ring there is very fine line (if any) that separates the two.

I've never been a fan of "collections" but I think if there's anything worth collecting it's something you can use (like weapons, training equipment, cigars and liquor... betcha can guess what's in my house ).
What other kinds of weapons do you have, partyboy?

Right... I hear you... And theoretically, I concur... I've just never experienced such gentlemanlike behavior with regards to a fight... I'm not big on the talking bit either... What this means is that I don't engage in any form of physical confrontation unless it's an absolute last resort, in which case I do what's needed and get out... That includes groin shots, taking out a knee or bricking you... It's the brutal nature of fighting and it's the reason I avoid it...
The talking bit to me is an ego thing... The kinda stuff that takes place when people have never been tagged properly and/or when authorities of some sort are around...

I'd say for most people, you're right. But more often than not, you can actually beat someone with your words without it even coming to blows. If physical confrontation is the last resort, then you should be just as skilled and willing to hand out tongue lashings as your are ass whoopings.
All depends on the situation.

That's the thing... I'm excellent, bordering on fantastic, if I may say so myself, at escalating a situation with trash talk, but I'm completely incapable of defusing it... So, I try to keep my mouth shut, walk away, let it cool down...

I so totally disagree. So much better to just walk away if possible. Evaluate each situation as it arises and see if it's something worth getting involved in a fight over. If not, simply concede whoever's point and walk away.
If it is then break a knee, disable, KO, or whatever to end it as quickly as possible. Don't go talking sh*t and escalating. See if you can walk away...if you can't hit first, hit hard, do damage. If you can't do this...then walk away every time.

I'll say it again, people nowadays are too sissyfied to throw down and end it. They need to break out brass knuckles or branches or something to gain the edge. I'm not saying I dont believe in having an edge (I have several years of martial arts training, joint manipulations, locks, breaking bones, etc.), but its not the same as carrying knuckles with you. I've learned techniques to protect and disarm myself from these very people. If you're walking around with weapons than you're probably up to no good anyway and should have your ass beat down by someone skilled in defense.

I'm not talking about trash talk to escalate a situation, I'm talking about ending a situation with word play where *something* should be done (or said).
I don't have time to write out a hypothetical situation, or tell you about my experiences here, but you know that scene in Good Will Hunting where Matt Damon comes to Affleck's rescue in the bar just before he picks up Minnie Driver? Something like that...
Like I said, it all depends on the situation.

the legit person has as much reason for self-defense also, a person who arrives/leaves their business early or late in the dark, alone, nowadays they rob you and still kill you, it's IMO safer to crack someone out cold with "kuckles" than to shoot it out, you can shoot someone and the adreniline may not take them down (they shoot back), yes thats where "training" comes in handy, but that doesn't always prevale and what if someone was just starting their gun training courses (or MMA fighting courses)?
you hit someone with knuckles, they go down period, (unless it's Kimbo)

Sorry Luke, gotta disagree. If someone is trying to rob me or take my life, I'd much rather have a .45 than brass knuckles, a knife or anything else for that matter. A pistol is a FAR better defensive tool!
Think about it... a gun has a longer "reach", it's more intimidating (exposing it is likely to defuse the situation), it's easier to "land a shot", it can take care of multiple attackers and finally, it's more powerful! Even Kimbo goes down with hot lead.
Adreneline? I got 13 more rounds for that...

lol yeah a gun is definitely better than brass knuckles lol. besides, if you run out of bullets you can always crack them with the butt of the gun and thats gonna do as much if not more damage than knuckles anyway.
