Buying a Springfield XD45

I'm getting a bit of money for my birthday so I'm going to buy the XD45 acp. I'm really digging this gun even though I've been a Glock man, owning a 19 and a 27. I almost purchased the Glock 38, which is a 45 GAP because its based on the 19 frame, but then someone showed me their XD and I was like whoa. I've been wanting a fullsize large caliber for awhile now and this is it. Nothing but great writeups about the XD everywhere.

It was like everyone's birthday. Remington 870 magnum police shotguns. Ruger pistols. Walther PPK. AK47. SKS. 22 rifles. Heavier rifles...

Not here apparently. When word got out that I didn't want them around me anymore and was giving them away, they got gone within a day.

I can understand not wanting a load of guns around the house. But why would you get them all in the first place then?

It's kind of odd and hard to explain. I'm probably the only one around who's both a member of the ACLU and the NRA. Although I'm not very pleased with either one right now. One is too far left and the other too far right.

I've got nothing against guns or gun ownership. I'll probably have another arsenal at some time in the future. Both of my girls are able to handle firearms better than most adults.

Why did I buy them in the first place? Some I bought because I wanted them. Some I bought as gifts for my wife. The hunting rifles that were gifts for my girls still belong to them, they are just stored elsewhere until they are older.

One shotgun was such a good deal that I couldn't pass it up. One cop I know needed some money and was going to sell his. So I bought it...after I'd given all mine away. I kept it a little over a week then I decided that I probably shouldn't have it with me either so I stopped at a friend's house and dropped it off with her.
