Calling Governor Arnold
So I think I need to write a letter to our beloved Governor Arnold.
Last weekend I was an a party and talking to this person I know who is retired, but took a part time job with the State of California. He works as a driver.
His job is to drive state government workers from a parking lot where they park their cars to the office, a whopping 3 block distance!
Can you imagine that? I'm not talking about disabled employees, but every Tom, Dick and Harry who is too darn lazy to walk a whopping 3 blocks.
So this person drives them to their office in the morning and basically sits around the rest of the day on the payroll until it is time to pick them up.
Why does this bother the crap out of me?

wtf???...........too lazy to walk 3 blocks huh. Guess the State deemed it necessary to hire a driver to carry the workers to the workplace and back. Many years ago I had to walk 2 miles to work and back, didn't take public transportation back then.

The answer to that one seems kind of obvious...

Absolutely none, unless you consider that they might get a little winded and sweaty from a whopping 3-block walk.

So you're worried about some guy that probably makes minimum wage or close to minimum wage being paid all day? If you are going to write a letter, why don't you write about something more important, like the much bigger inefficiencies in government spending (why ain't the school system REALLY getting that lottery money?) Surely there are bigger fish to fry...
My girlfriend's dad is a retired teacher and he does the same thing for Ford Employees...and I bet it ain't even a 3 block distance.

So what if the guy is making minimum wage, how does that mitigate the nonsense of this? By the way, the State of California does not pay anyone minimum wage.
I'm glad your girlfriend's retired father has a job to give him something to do. But I still think it is pretty sad that people can't walk 3 blocks to work. Now I can understand, partly, in your part of the world with all your terrible winter weather, but not in the summertime. And in my part of the world, weather is not an excuse.

I think you're missing the global view -- he is no longer the Terminator, he is a politcal figure. At any rate, and the more high profile, those and those around you, family and acquaintances and yep, those you hire, become targets.
I doubt he does it to avoid exercise himself and for his cronies, but there is a safety issue.

just goes to show you the innefficiency of government and why we should keep taxation to a minimum. we are paying for these wothless jobs meanwhile there are people who could use that money to help send their children to a good school or to get health insurance. when we hand over our money to govt, they come up with all these crazy ways to spend it and then have the balls to demand more. these jobs are unneccary, folks. what are we gonna do, pay every guy without a job to do something we don't need done? see how that works out in our pocket books.

It's not the Govenator or anyone particularly close to him getting a ride. It's just your average state employee. Unless they're handicapped, they should walk. If Ford wants to do it, that's their prerogative, but the government is spending the people's money.
At least you don't have Rod "About to get indicted any day now" Blagojevich.

He should do a state of the State address or whatever while working out, that would be comical. like him doing arnold presses while talking about the agenda for taxes and bringing gas prices down. I dunno it was just a though that passed thru my head, it sounded funny and I laughed but not in my head, I laugh out loud, and the neighbors stomped on the floor/ my cieling right now, caz theyre a-holes and thats why I need a house...
