Do You Believe in Ghosts?

Do you believe in Demons and Spirits? Do you believe that every oiji (sp) board comes with a spirit to it whether good or bad?

We had interesting experiences with a board when we were about 8 years old. My buddy had a birthday party and about 8 of us slept over, and that night we played with a oiji board and it did some weird things. About 4 of us had our fingers on the thing at the time, and we all kept yelling at each other when it was moving thinking someoen was moving it. Then out of nowhere the piece that sits on the board flew across the room from us...and that was enough for us to throw the board away the next morning LOL.

nope. I've never seen or felt a ghost or "spirit" as far as I am aware, and nobody I know has either.

I've felt some crazy stuff going on before...I had my bedroom in the basement of my mom's house and one time I was laying in bed with the lights off, and out of nowhere this really cold draft came up and rippled my blanket. There's no possible explanation for where this sudden draft would have come from. There wasn't a window in my room and I had no other out except for 1 door, so no wind tunnel effect could have happened. There was just no explanation for it. Needless to say, I slept with the light on for the next couple of weeks, yes me, a grown man. I think I was about 21 or 22 years old when this happened.

This type of stuff intrigues me.

not really... sorry. I am a skeptic. I have had people swear to me that they had experiences with 'ghosts' and spirits, but I think that instead of delving deeper into their minds and asking themselves "WHY did my mind create this?" they will pass it off as a ghostly encounter.

The human brain is amazing in its depth and capacity : the complexity of dreams is one example of this. Often one may mistake a dream (or that half-dreamlike state) for a waking experience, and therefore a dream is imagined to be something supernatural.

Not sure how well I explained this.. but my bottom line is : i will believe it when I see it. You can try to convince me but I will probably not believe you, I believe that to encourage someones' ramblings about ghosts and whatnot is only going to pepetuate it. The story gets more and more bizarre the more it is told, and the more people eat it up

So then if you do not believe in ghosts, is it fair to say you aren't religious?

im not really religious..... I was baptised and I do go to church every now n then..... but church aint realy my thing, in fact 3months ago I just went to church for the first time in 13 years, and Ive gone a total of 8 times since... but yea, definately not religious by most people definition.

I do believe in church and god, but I also believe in ghosts and aliens, and zombies and vampires and Werewolfs too.

I believe the existence of aliens is far more likely than that of ghosts.

I was raised a catholic but I am somewhat lapsed. I have not completely denounced my faith but have become a skeptic in my old age lets just say, i still like the idea of God and I 'hope' He exists.

I'm skeptical of catholicism as well and i was raised one, now a non-denominational person, was baptist (not real strict one) for many years as well.

I guess it's an interesting question to be posed: how can one be religious if one doesn't believe in ghosts and spirits?

yup indeed, hence why I am now no longer very religious. The reason I cannot completely let go of my religion is, I believe, a result of my upbringing. Ireland was (still is, but getting less so) a very religious country as a whole : Mass, Prayer and the Sacrements were a big part of growing up for me.

Now I like to think of myself as a more rational, logical person : I believe in science. I think the world we live in is an amazing thing, what we have accomplished through evolution is phenomenal. I heard someone recently on the radio say that to credit God with this is somewhat of an insult to ourselves and to the world, and i believe there is some validity to that.

I think the idea of God is most comforting to those who are facing the end : and I feel that if anybody anywhere finds comfort in the belief of a higher power/heaven/reincarnation then that is a great thing.

on southpark. god claims hes a buddhist. haha thats good humor. thats a funny episode too cause satan asks god for advice, and god says " what happened to you man, you were the rebel in heaven, now your a pansy B!!!! haha

anyways I would like to think that yea, the earth was probably created thru the elements of life, and amino acids, forming into bacteria and all that, and the universe was created thru one large bang, but who can we credit that too.... why not god. id like to think god at least had his part in artifically insemenating the earth with the building blocks of life. although some scientist say it couldve been done by aliens. but either way, maybe god had fated are world to happen, he might not have directly built it the way stated in the bible, but doesnt mean he didnt create it some how.

My girlfriend is irish catholic as well. her whole family is. shes told me shes skeptical of the catholic religion too. I wont say why or how because I probably opened my mouth too much again. as long as you guys wont be offended by things I say, then Ill say it, really its nothing harmful though. this is just what we ad plentyof others have hypothesized.
