We have curbside recycling in my town. It's really convenient, but I do wonder about all the greenhouse gases generated by sending an extra truck around every week.

No special laws here. But yes I do. Or I did. Haven't moved my big cans with me yet. Moving my stuff is very slow. So right now, not so much. But since it's all in the floorboard of my truck, I can recycle it all when I get them moved. Yeah, I really don't litter either. Three rows of seats and some cargo space in the back...all kinda messy right now.
No, I'm not an environut either. I still drive an SUV. As I said a couple of years ago when one such discussion took that turn. I'll always have a 4x4 pickup and an SUV. At least this explorer doesn't have mud monsters on it like the other one did.

here in toledo ohio, they just last year added a garbage tax!!! yea ridiculous I know, its because of out cities mismanagment of theire funds and dipping out of this fund to help this project out, and I wont go there right now.....
weve always had curbside recycling, but now with the tax, if we recycle we dont have to pay the tax... so pretty much everyone here should be recycling or else theyre just dumb!

And not recycling when throwing things that ruin the earth into the landfill is free would be considered smart?

well no... Ive recycled since ive lived on my own for 4 years now... although Ive lived in crappy apartments, so Ive had to personally box and bag up all my recycables and take to the grocery store, where they have recycable dumpsters... and then im just assuming that those make its way to the recycling station out in BFE...
No honestly I think your dumb no matter who you are for not recycling... no offense to the 50% here who dont, I still like ya, youre just dumb. LoL.

funny that this question pops up
I work at Applebee's..I am sure you all know of it and know how big it is..well they DON'T recycle..only cardboard..
so...I actually am taking the initiative and trying to get a recycling program going..it is A LOT of work, a lot of approvals, ect but their are different laws for every place, because not all places recycle the same things, not all places have the means or resources to recycle everything but ever since I started this I got my parents more involved at home and am hoping they will get some more bins!
there is so much that can be recycled, why not do it?!?!?

I recycle, but I don't think we have any laws about here. I've heard from friend who live in other states that they have laws stating that they have to recycle certain materials and get fined if the don't. That seems kind of hard to enforce to me though.

F! Yea! You sound like a very motivated individual, that is very good, you got exposure through out the town/city now, you could try to get into some kind of politics... Not being sarcastic with this... there has been n 18 yr old mayor just north in adrian michigan who was elected last year, there is an 18 yr. wwoman who was elected into toledo council last year, anita lopez I think. there was another 19 yr. old in our suburb waterville elected last year for something else too, cant remember...
whats this have to do with recycling... nothing really just bounding this with how motivated you seem for the whole recycling thing, and im just good at switching convos on people.

I have found an alternative way of recycling cans and plastic bottles.
I live in an area close to downtown and we have alot of homeless people who roam our area. If I leave cans and plastic bottles in the front of my house right next to the sidewalk (resting on a brick raised wall), they will be gone within 30 minutes as many of the homeless collect them as they go from street to street pushing their shopping carts.

homeless people take our cans/bottles too. I recycle at home (they collect once a week, same day as garbage) but I must admit I am not 100% diligent about it. Sometimes when I am rushing, instead of washing out a plastic container and recycling, i might just throw in garbage I should be better.
I do usually bring my own reusable bag(s) when I go to the store now.
At work, they don't recycle which is weird as there are so many paper cups for coffee/water being used every day. There is just one garbage.

Yes, I recycle, and most people here recycle too. Canada is pretty strict when it comes to recycling and garbage pickups. I like that. I don't mind doing my part as long as it's for a good cause.
