Ever notice how many DF'ers post at work?
I noticed, traffic wise, that is,....the board seems to thrive on company time, but nights, weekends,.....pft.
Then again, if you happen to have beautiful weather, most of us would rather be out on our bikes, running, on the rapids, climbing,...not behind a monitor.
Weather aside,....just how many tend to put most of their time in here while at work?

I do most of my surfer at work.
I normally begin my day at the gym. Then come to work and surf while eating breakfast. I keep DF on during the day to take random checks throughout the day to see what is going on. Things are pretty tame right now so there is not alot of moderation that needs to be done. I'll jump in here and there if there is something interesting being discussed, or someone needs an attaboy or attagirl based on a post they made. Sometimes I'll get an idea in my head and decide to start a thread.
I lay low when I get home but I'll occasionally take a look.

Guilty as charged. I work 24 hour shifts so it kills some of the time. I'd much rather visit with my kimberly between running ambulance calls, but alas she simply can't stay with me for the 24 hours. Station rules, family responsibilities, her own work, taking care of our kids and so on...
And since we don't have internet access at home, only at the old house where I seldom go anymore work is my internet time.
And when I take her to the old place, it's not to use the internet. Sometimes when I'm there on my backup day I'll get online but not much and not for long. And then it's usually just to use the IM cuz I can't get to her and want to do the next best thing...chat with my myspace hookup that I'm going to spend the rest of my life with.
There ya go, very little internet time for me these days.

I appreciate your attaboys, and even when you give me an attagirl.
I cannot get on during company time, because of the fact, I am not in an office or cubicle like you people!!!
I work physically hard all day, we do have computers in our breakrooms, but it only access's our company's website, so we can check on our tax, and personal information and update it, and check on our vacation/ personal/ and sick time we have left. (its on the website if you happen to lose track, I dont know who would?) Yea HR has a problem doing there own job... ok im switching the subject again...

Okay I'll say this once, but I won't sign any contract. I, too, look forward to pierini's "atta girl's" every now again. For all our sparring, respect takes hold and well, there ya go. I said it. A friend in need.
I think I need a towel now to wipe the sweat off.....(whew).
Ditto Westy, me too. I don't work in a cuble. Err....or a cubicle even. And although we have computers they're all intranet. Sheesh you'd think they'd encourage us (during our down time of course) to engage in verbal intercourse with other like-minded fitness-related individuals. Sounds good, doesn't it?
I could so not do the cublicle thingie. I won't blame the ADHD but I sure as hell think that's a part of it.
Notice how often you can switch the subjects and I can still keep up? Ahh, ADHD to the rescue again! It's a prerequisite for those interested in having successful personal training careers. I'm convinced.

I used to DF surf at work not anymore. My current job blocks all activity-sports-hobby related sites (as well as the porn and obvious ones).

I'll fess up to one time (ie: series of about 2 weeks) where I surfed and chatted at work. But here's the clincher. But boss at the time was the one who taught me how to do it. He was so excited when he discovered how to do it, he came into my office, logged onto my pc and said, "Hey Lisa, check this out!" And yep, we sat there chatting and surfing,....oh not just the chat logs, we of course scoped out the news and local events as well.
But what a bizarre introduction. That's what I got into the nasty habit of Instant Messaging or ICQ. Bad juju.
Gotta admit, that's one very strange way to be indoctrinated into the world of Das Internetboot.
Then like all sweet things, they came to an end. I didn't miss any work, (Lisa's ADHD's voice speaking here: Her ability to multi-task made this all possible!)
So now I log on at home if I don't have clients at night. Weekends which blow because everyone with a pulse is usually out doing family affairs.

I am guilty as well. However, there is a lot of downtime at my job. I'm a lab tech, and there's a lot of do something, wait an hour, do something else, wait 10 minutes. What else is there to do between waiting? Also, our lab is not actually a research lab, but a service lab, which means I work business hours. In other words, I get here at 9, but if I'm done at 2 or 3, I don't get to go home until 5 in case someone calls or stops by. I try to be discreet, but the boss knows I do it. She doesn't mind because I always get work done; it's not like I'm surfing when I should be working.

Nope not here, though I do check my myspace account very briefly from time to time at work. Its hard when all 4 computers at my job are at the same counter and people can see what you're doing.

Youre dork! ADHD is not the reason why you can multitask, or keep up with multiple convos. Not saying you dont have ADHD, or ADD, but those both do prohibit pretty much the ability to do just that, Multi tasking and mulit convos!

Well you can argue that point with the three specialists who tested me, but hey, who am I to believe the doctors and the tests? Afterall, I'm just a dork. But,...a dork with diagnosed ADHD.
That said, I do think it's a condition diagnosed far too loosely, especially and primarily with children.
I was not diagnosed until I was an adult....and was put through the hoops because (at the time) it was not as common.
But again, as I say,....who am I to argue with the tests and 3 different docs? Nothing much but a dork with ADHD.
It's either that or maybe I'm schizophrenic and it's those personalities that get distracted. Oh look, pretty flowers. Wow, is it hot in here or is it me? Gosh, the print on this forum looks tiny. Seen any good movies? I'm jamming to some super music now. Wow, I'm on DF,...I better come up with something good to say.
Woops. Too late.

I'm too lazy to work and too nervous to steal, so I teach.
Therefore, technically, I never post at work.

HA! you have a wandering mind! or thats what im guessing, that definately is a sign of add! but im just saying being able to focus on things clearly, and mutlitask, is not because of add, add would make those things more difficult.
which obviously both of those traits you posses contradict each other... If they didnt diagnose you til you were older maybe you have Adult add, which I dont nothing about other than im guessing its similiar.
I had ADD when I was a kid, I had to take meds, and it made me real slow, and tired, and I had horrible grades, til pretty much I got into H.S. which is another big story behind that but... Overall I really dont believe in ADD, like I can see what the doctors mean, i have a lack of ability to focus and stuff, but I think that was more a matter of discipline... thats why kids usually grow out of it, its prolly because they finally mature and know how to act. I feel when I was all crazy and goofy misbehaving kid, it was just a lack of parenting, and self control on my part, but like I said i was a kid.
however I have noticed there are some traits I do recognize still... like, I keep getting side tracked from whats most important to me, like FITNESS and DIETING! and I have a very bad BAD temper, only at work! everything there frustrates me, and I dont know why, because it is a lovely place to work, they take care of thier employees. and last I noticed, I change the subject alot, like right now, I dont remember what the original thread was about....
ha sorry folks, im a dork!

Westy, when I got diagnosed as an adult and medicated, a lot of things became clear and I also, through medication and time, was able to really understand why my childhood was so scattered and unfocused.
For me, it works. For you, meds didn't. I think, as I said, it's over-diagnosed, but of course I believe it exists. Scientologists don't believe depression exists either, but hey,....maybe those depressed people are just anti-scientology dorks too.

uh oh... can I say one thing, and promise you read this carefully...
ok I do believe there are depressions and addictions but more like, you have the ability to control them... you just got to be willing for one, and for two, you got to teach yourself how. I have been pretty damned depressed growing up, but ive learned thru church, (im lutheran baptised, baptist church goer, and recently taking up on catholicism) that you just need to train your brain, you need to train yourself, how to love, and appreciate, and make yourself happy... you wont naturally be happy at the things life throws at you, even millionares arent happy, because they can find any little thing wrong, and things just upset them, you have to train yourself to be happy... and I dont mean lets all be barney the dinosaur, that would be too much.
I know most people will not read that thoroughly and/or wont keep an open mind, and therefore will disagree.
