I've picked up my Concealed Handgun Permit. Guess they didnt deem me insane after all.

And my surprise is not letting them know. Open-carry draws unwanted attention plus makes you a first target for the bad-guy in a SHTF situation.

I forgot to add that I also picked up a little Kel-tec P3AT 380 on Saturday as a pocket gun. My father has one and you can carry them anywhere.

It must be cool to pack an iron, but in uk they are very very strict.
Even if yr clean its harder than cutting a mountain in 2

They're pretty strict here in North Carolina too. Took me all of 3 months before I got my permit back. Gotta be squeaky clean or your SOL. Its nice knowing I can ride around with my 357 loaded and concealed, and be perfectly legal.

3 Months to get it back, wow!
Here in uk if you lose it, its gone forever, and it takes about 2yrs to get it

I meant to say that it took 3 months to get it back after applying for it. I never lost it. 2 years is a looong time, geez.

In Maryland you need to prove that you handle large amounts of cash for a "provisional" license (meaning you can only carry when transporting the cash) or you need to have documented death threats (in addition to letters of recommendation and a bunch of other BS). There is only one person I know who has a concealed permit and he was shot in the head by a member of some crime syndicate... and they still didn't want to give it to him!

Thats ridiculous up there in Maryland the way they view gun control. I heard its tough up in the New England area too. Here you obtain a CCW, you need to take a one day firearms training class, go get fingerprinted and "assessed" by the ID bureau, mail off 4 letters to different psychiatric facilties, and then wait 3 months until all is completed. The permit is good for 5 years and allows you to carry a handgun concealed anywhere except for prohibited places such as the courthouse, etc etc. Also allows you to buy as many guns as you want without having to obtain purchase permits.

MD is pretty strict on gun laws but some states are much worse. DC doesn't even allow guns. No legal residents own guns (though plenty of criminals do). There's a few politicians that have pulled some strings but other than that, all DC's guns are on the streets.
