Is he telling the truth?

I happened to watch (rather listen) on television to Roger Clemens when he appeared before Congressional committee the other day while in the gym regarding his steriod use.

Do you think he is telling the truth?

I am not so sure.

I don't think so, which is a shame. I think HGH is a different ballgame (no pun intended), in my uneducated opinion, than the typical steroid cases. Roger Clemens wasn't looking for muscles to put him at an advantage over a non-steroid user; he was looking to be able to perform at the level he already had at a younger age. Try throwing a baseball just shy of 100 MPH for 24 years and see if you need a little extra to get back on the mound. I mean, the Rocket was always a tank, long before the steroid allegations, so its not like he needed the muscle.

Or maybe I'm just making excuses for a player I always admired.

He's lying, and it is nice to know Congress is holding hearings about whether a baseball player used steroids. Meanwhile my property value is plummeting and we're facing a recession. Thanks Congress.

He is definately not telling the truth. It's sad because I think we would all respect him more if he came out and admitted it than hiding behind the truth and trying to protect his legacy. All I have to say is that everything Barry Bonds has gotten over the years should also happen to Roger Clemens.

I don't normally care too much for body language experts but I saw one on ESPN who studied Clemens during the hearings. She caught something very interesting. When Clemens is standing with his hand up and swearing to tell the thruth, just as he is set to say "I do" he brings his thumb to his hand and licks his lips. The expert said this is a sign that someone is getting ready to lie and this is a way of making themselves ok with it.

Yep, that is exactly the first thing I said in a discussion with my buddy the other day. It's alot more obvious in the NFL yet there's no heat on them right now. Maybe it has to do with payoffs...

That's great to know. I've never been O.K. with telling lies. This might help.

lol yeah i trust that the body language expert said that, and even that there is validity to the statement... but its funny to think that something like licking your lips and bringing your thumb to your hand could make you mentally prepared to lie...

OK so I'll post a video where they are both swearing in so you can see what I mentioned in my earlier post. Again it isn't something anyone but a body language expert would recognize. Check it out at about 20 seconds.

he sounds like a robot. im sorry all of you clemens fans, but if he was honest, then i think he wouldve presented his case word of mouth, not from a paper that someone else probably written. if m girl confronts me about cheatng on her, im gonna be honest, not go home write a 5 paragraph essay, and read it to her in robot form.

If you were standing before Congress, you wouldn't think of how you are going to say something, even if it were the truth? I believe he's lying, but I also believe in preparing for a big interview.

It is a little bit later so I guess I should answer my own question.

I do not believe he was telling the truth when he appeared before Congress.
