Taking the CCW class Saturday.

After putting it off month after month, I'm finally taking the Concealed Carry Weapons class Saturday. After all, I do work at a gun shop and it would be nice to carry.

I'll never understand why people are phobic or even unappreciative of weapons. I LOVE them, and I love to shoot. That doesn't mean that everyone with a weapon is a gun toting psychopath you know.

In fact, the states with the laxest laws on carrying weapons have the lowest incident of crime. Figure that one out.

Yeah, we've been all through this before. Hence my facetious comment. I actually went and picked my replacement CCW permit up at the S.O. yesterday. After carrying a temporary for several months. Picked up a PPK yesterday too.

They told me I need to laminate this one so it will hold up since it's good for like 3 more years.

We've been through it before? Is there always some type of pro-gun, or anti-gun thread running?

(sigh)

Oh yeah, we have them all the time. But they are usually pretty friendly. Goosneck and I are usually in the minority though. We are the gun toting psychos.

Actually, I love your state's gun laws. Got myself a nice smith & wesson .357 because of them. Folks moving there and couldn't take the guns.

Okay so add me to the gun toting psycho list: (pistols, rifles, and shotguns)-- now we make three.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the S&W however.

And what do you like about the laws of a state the dictate what weapons I can have in my house or carry on my person?

This is where I think Texas has it right.

PS: You can also add me to the long hair, motorcycle riding, gun-toting crowd.

And I won't eat raw fish. I guess that makes me 5% wussy.

everything Merrida says add me to the opposite. I even like raw fish.

As said it has already been discussed but I am thankful I have a slim to nul chance that if I ever get into an arguement with common scum he wont pull a gun on me.

And if it is one of the drug gangs that do have guns how does it help me if I have one they are nmentaalers and will just petrol bomb your house or kill your family if you do anything to them anyway.

And you think that by "not" carrying a pistol, you'll avoid that possibility?

Oh, and for the record, most of us who carry are not carrying so we can walk into gang areas during civilian hours or necessarily live in rough neighborhoods. I live in one of the wealthiest areas of Boston Proper,...I'm not going to run into any gangs, drugs,......

I think any of us who are interested in weapons of any kind, are interested for our own personal reasons, but I sincerely doubt any of those reasons are because we have ideas in our head of taking someone out who is going to bomb our home. I don't commune with people of that caliber.

Because said laws made it MY PISTOL, and MY SHOTGUN.

That could be said about any weapon you purchase in any state.

My gripe with Massachusetts is them telling me just WHAT I can have as "my pistol" or "my shotgun" or "my rifle." It's MY choice, not theirs. That, is my gripe....when they intervene to impose the list of what is "ok" and what is "not ok" for me to purchase, own, and house within my dwelling.

"Your" ownership isn't restricted to MA,....what IS restricted in MA is the removal of freedom,....my freedom to pick and choose isn't even up for consideration, it's wiped off the slate, while 20 minutes away into NH I don't have the same issues.

It's just so illogical.

My point exactly. I just like firearms; I like the feel of them, the power they unleash, the subtle yet elegant appeal, the mechanics, etc etc. Chances of me ever having to need a gun in a threatening situation is slim to none but its piece of mind knowing that I have something other than my fists if the bad guys dont play nice.
