Tax them!

Got this from a client via e-mail right now who got it from someone else.

This is NO April Fools Joke!

It's time to right those checks to our government.....again.

Why I lean republican you ask?

Here is one fundamental difference. Tax and waste. (I know both parties waste) What a disease it's become.

At first this seems funny...until you realize the awful truth of it.

1.WWII

2.Policeman/bully of world happened with US installing puppet govts in other countries (eg., Iran), sponsoring assasinations, supporting terrorist groups.

3.Real GDP/capita rose 3.5x

4.Life expectancy increased from 60 to 78 (gotta save for those extra oldie 18 years).

5.Republicans who think wars can be funded without taxation and who fail to realise the cost will be extracted directly or indirectly through inflation happened.

Excellent post. Depressing as all hell, but excellent post. Thought provoking. Although I'd like to see it provoke more action than mere thought.

At a very tiny fraction of the multitude of taxes you listed, and the contexts in which you listed them, I always found it so incredibly odd (read that as: irritating as hell), that even on the most simple levels, we're taxed when we spend money---money we earned and have already paid multiple taxes on (to supposedly build the economy, raise prosperity, and all that hooplah),....and we're paying taxes on these purchases, with money that's already been taxed. It's as silly as paying yearly taxes on something we supposedly "own" (like a car or house or land), with money we earned that we were taxed on already,...we're taxed exponentially. We don't work for income, we work to pay taxes. Period. It sucks donkey butt.

great reason not to vote democratic thats for sure. not sure its a compelling reason to like republicans any more. but yes, taxation has become ridiculous. if could actually keep some money in our pockets, this country would be in a much better state.

This is why I don't like the capital gains tax. Someone earns the money, pays taxes on it, then invests it in the economy (these capital investments give other people jobs) then has to pay taxes on what they make in the investment! Grrrrr!!!!

Unless you are buying an IPO, you are not "investing in the economy".
When you buy a non-IPO share, you are not giving money to the company, you are giving money to the holder of the share.

Removing taxes on CDs and bonds would be a stronger case, there the company directly gets the investment.
Yet, they are taxed at the higher income tax rate.
