This will make you feel better. A couple of Sundays ago, I was doing some dishes real quick before heading off to church. After finishing the dishes, the sink wouldn't drain. Scot said, well, run the disposal. I did, but nothing happened, and the disposal barely made a sound. He said it must be busted, and he took a look after we got back. Turns out I'd forgotten to take out the stopper!

Considered a career in the British Army Disturbed? Read a number of threads on ARRSE concerning young Australians (& other Commonwealth nationalities) looking for active service in a British Regiment.

Hey Disturbed, I'm being a bit of a thread digger here but I had to mention that I'm joining the Australian Army next year. I'm so excited, but I'm trying not to let my excitement detract from my HSC studies LOL. The Army only requires you to be in service for 4 years for non-commissioned ranks and 6 years for officer ranks, plus the 18 months at RMC Duntroon for your officer training. Plus there are a squillion opportunities for fitness in the Army. Most large units have Gyms.

Military as a career choice? Hmmm...interesting.
Hell yeah. Go for it. Nothing to be applauded more than service to your country. I've met very few aussie military folks, but those I have met...I have nothing but praise to say about them.
I don't know how it is over there, but here in the US, it's a great thing for a dedicated individual. My little brother was a mean assed trouble making little 17 year old punk once upon a time. Then one day a judge told him that he thinks service in the Army would do him some good. Kind of a stay out of jail free card if you will. Well, now at 32 years of age, he is a decorated US Army ranger and one of the finest individuals I've ever had the pleasure of knowing in my life...and I would say that even if he wasn't my brother. And yeah, if he was still a sh*t...I'd say that too. Even he will say that service in the Army is what made him what he is today and that without it he'd probably be dead or in jail.
Yeah, so it's an old thread that has been brought back from the dead...but IMO an important one.
Go for it young man. And my best wishes to you.
