The Mall

Last night I made my annual guest appearance at a popular shopping mall with my wife. Here are some of my findings:

#1 = Plug your nose when you walk past the women's perfume section of Macy's. It's too darn strong for me and will give me a headache.

#2 = For all you ladies with cellulite issues, I'm pleased to report that you can buy anti-cellulite hoisery at Sears.

#3 = For the lady who has everything and money is no object, there is a purse for you at Norstrom's for $528.

#4 = Christmas has arrived early at the Mall with sightings of Christmas decorations and trees noted. Or will it be another Happy Holidays season at the politically-correct stores?

#5 = The racks are loaded to the max in the women's clothing section with every color, size, shape imaginable, all at 25 to 55% savings.

#6 = My cardio endurance is still only good for about 1 hour, then I made a mad dash home to my couch in front of the fireplace and relax as I had ran 6 miles earlier in the morning and my legs were tired.

I'm glad someone is buying that stuff to keep the retail clerks employed and the store doors open.

Finally, just like when I was a teenager and we would roam the malls, there is still some nice eye candy to be seen.

I'll give my next report next year about this time.

very interesting stuff their perini..

Personally, I hate malls. $528 dollar purses, High seelings, you cant see outside, and for some reason I alway get lethargic. not to mention the chaos during christmas and boxing day.

I am with you on th eye candy though

I HATE THE MALL!!! lol, I seriously can't be there for more than an hour. Even worse is heading into the mall from now until the end of the year. You have to deal with long lines, rude customers, annoying cart salesman and the fact that they crank up the heat so high you should be walking around in a tee and shorts! ok my rant about the mall is over now...

$528 that is nothing, i have a copy of a glossy magazine right here with purses for $4000 and if you want to buy a nice 'paul smith' single speed bicycle its yours for the bargain price of $5995

There is no need to go to the mall to see ridiculous prices!

For the record I don't mind the mall, but I much prefer the way it was back home : i would walk down town and go from store to store on the street. Not so much fun when it rains, but malls are a bit depressing.

I have never been in nordstoms though.. I am a cheap shopper and even the prices at Macy's make me raise an eyebrow.

Then go to Ross and Marshalls. Go often and allow plenty of time to hunt and you'll find good deals. Then you can go home and play "guess how much this cost" with Erik like my wife does with me.

I personally avoid the mall. Only go when forced to. My shopping for my girls is often done by proxy. I'll give a friend money and send her...or get her to "help" while I wait in the car.

Now, I've got one friend wanting to make me go to the mall to "prep" us up a little. Yeah right, like that's gonna happen. I've got my black jeans, my black tees, and my black trench coat....that's all I need. My kids wear the same thing and that's what they prefer...no need to prep up at all IMO.

pierini, marshalls is one of my favorite stores! I go there all the time. I've never heard of Ross though.

Maxgain, it is going to be horrible going home and having to pay through the nose for euros! It was nice cashing in the wedding checks that people gave us in euros though

Has anyone else seen that now Santa's are being encouraged to (sit down anyone here who has memories of a happy day with Santa sitting on his lap, or enjoys bringing our kids to see Santa),.....to,...to not say "ho" anymore, because women are finding it sexist and are objecting to the phraseology.

I had to take a double take when I read that.

Telling Santa to "not say Ho" is insane. What on earth have we come to, I mean really?

Yeah I laughed when I saw that news headline on Yahoo. With all the problems going on in this world some people are more concerned with not allowing Santa to say "ho ho ho." Next thing you know Santa will not be allowed to have a big belly anymore because he is promoting obesity.

God, I never thought of that one. But I'll bet you're right. It's probably just around the corner.

Then I suppose his sleigh (while definitely environmentally friendly,....he probably gets all his thrust for taking off of roof tops from methane after all,....but we'll find he's exploiting reindeer rights, and the Reindeer Coilition will have something to say about this!

I dont understand why a country like America with multi-millions of people have to bend over backwards and conform to what the few minority people are "offended" by. I like Lewis Black's line, " its just the tough **** rule ".

You can make an argument for just about any type of phrase out there now offending someone somehow. It is disgusting.
