Ugghh, I hate being sick.

Just ranting at the moment. Caught something from another co-worker a couple days ago and I'm feeling like hell this morning. I do believe that I will be staying home today, so I'll be dropping in here and there. I'm also taking the whole week off from lifting to rest and take a needed break.

The sign of still being young - you get sick more often that us "older folks".

You'll be back in the fitness saddle in a heartbeat because you are a young buck.

I know how you feel Goose, I'm sick right now too with whatever crap has been going around. I haven't gone to the gym since Saturday, either because I feel tired or because I can't breathe well enough (the cold is making my asthma flare up).

I had the flu baaaaaad a couple years ago right at Christmas time. I stayed home in bed Christmas day as the rest of my family got to gether and had a great time. The flu was so bad that it went all the way through New Years, where I continued to lay in bed. I think I lost like 10 pounds those two weeks. Ohh and it wasnt a stomach flu thank God, just a really high fever, hovered around 102 for days.

I just got over my bout with this nasty flu that's going around. I operated under the misinformed assumption at first that it would be a 24 hour bug,...cancelled my day, slept in. Woke up the next day feeling worse, operated under the assumption it's one of those 72 hour bugs.....cancelled the rest of my week, and slept in.

Weeks later, I'm coughing up stuff only God could recognize (and he's opt to do so from a great distance), and I spent 2 weeks on NyQuill, running a temp, hot & cold sweats (waking up freezing cold but my clothes would literally be stuck to my body soaking wet, and the sheets were soaked through, even my pillow where my neck rests.

One of the worse aspects of this as it progressed and got worse and worse (which it totally did!) was not being able to breathe. I have a compromised cardiopulmonary system to begin with (from having croup as a kid, chronic bronchitis, and several bouts of pneumonia,....this whole thing started before I was even old enough to be in school, and I had cardio and pulmonary problems ever since,....even asthma, although asymptomatic 95% of the time now).

.....(deep breath,...now that I can take one).

Literally walking room to room, that's all, I'd be breathing so hard and harsh from this flu thing, out of breath worse than when I had pneumonia. That scared me more than all the other (multiple) symptoms.

Man, I sure hope you get over this quickly because whatever it is, it has worked its way through a great circle around me both at work and socially, and we've all been hit extremely hard. Hang in there dude....and REST. It is NOT worth the setback you'll get trying to push through anything.

.

I think it has alot to do this the fact kids go to school where they are exposed to lots of sick kids all years long, another reason is that youger people are much harder on their bodys, staying up late/waking up late, partying, and for most a huge lack of nutrition over extended periods.

older people tend to take care of themselfs more.

yeah also older people have developed more immunities and such which could help keep them from getting sick

Out of curiosity, Gooseneck, how are you feeling now? All better? Or is anything lingering?
