What other fitness forums do you frequent - pros/cons of them ?

What are the pros/cons of other fitness forums you frequent ?

df.com is a very family friendly (and not in a retarded way like one other forum I frequent), but there dont seem to be a whole bunch of active experienced heavy lifters here.

I used to frequent Bodybuilding.com, but there seemed to be a bunch of immature teens there.
I've recently been hovering above fortifiediron (introduced by dark), a bunch if heavy lifters, and many specialised forums (like grip training, olympic lifting, multimedia forum for fitness videos etc).
df.com is still the best place for beginners, but for more serious lifters (pierini, jaster etc), fortifiediron may also be a good place.

It could be that as many people move on to their professional lives and families they cannot find the time to make heavy lifting a priority. Some can work it in but often the increasing responsibilites and priorities of job and family don't allow for consistent and increasing intensity to keep moving ahead with lifting. Then of course the risk of injury becomes an even greater liability to the other parts of life.

I don't think DF is an iron only forum anyways.

At what point is someone a heavy, serious or experienced lifter in your opinion arbit?

When someone has made significant progress, knows about several programs (westside etc), has followed several of them, has many cycles of bulking up/down under the belt. Its not equivalent to lifting age. I have been lifting for 10 years, yet I would not call myself either heavy or serious or experienced lifter.

It is "Discuss Fitness" not "Discuss Powerlifting" or "Discuss Bodybuilding".

All fitness related discussion is welcome here. If one wishes to get into serious discussion about serious muscle, that's of course welcome too. We've got some good powerlifters and a couple of comptetitive bodybuilders here who can give very good guidance...all one has to do is ask.

intensemuscle.com - Went there for a few months to learn about DC training. The followers are a little too vehement, quck to flame new guys, and don't leave much room for debate about anything related to DC training. It's either take it or leave it. Don't really go there anymore. Lots of big, smart guys though.

gripboard.com - Best site far and away I've ever seen for grip training. Lots of videos, articles, grip masters, and other stuff to learn from. The only drawback is that no one really talks about anything else, but I think thats the way they like it.

ironaddict.com - Helped me learn the importance of recovery. The first site that really broke it down for me in a way I could accept and understand. Not a lot of chatter going on though, more of a place to learn and just stop by every now and again.

t-nation.com - rarely go there, but every now and again a decent article there is worth reading. Despite most being littered with a ridiculous amount of ads.

irontrybe.com - lower traffic site, but a lot of pure strong guys posting vids and giving pointers. There's a lot of full workouts posted on there from guys moving weights I aspire to, so its a great place to stop in and check out once in a while.

illpumpyouup.com - The guy who runs it emailed me and said he would give me $0.25 per post credit in his supplement store if I came to the board. He also made me a mod. There's a few decent guys over there, but not much of a community. I don't really go there at all anymore, especially since the only supplements i use are whey and vitamins now.

getbig.com, bodybuilding.com - pure comedy

As far as other forums I frequent. Agree with maverick on t-nation. Go there to read sometimes.

Then I go to The Online Home Of TeamSniffy to learn about powerlifting and look at pictures of John (cuz he's so purdy). I don't powerlift, but like to read about it. They can give some very good strength training advice.

Also post on the HS:Forum Home forum.
