What's in your collection?
Anybody collect anything? I always hated the thought of collecting things and viewed collections as useless clutter, but now I figure that as long as you can use whatever it is you're collecting and it's not something silly like refrigerator magnets or "snow babies", well than maybe it's a collection worth having (my apologies to the magnet and snow baby collectors).
I came to this conclusion when I started buying training equipment. Now I have a "collection" of equipment that is actually spread out between my mine, my fathers and Luke's house. It includes powerlifting, strongman, kettlebells and grip stuff.
Somewhere along the line I got into firearms, and though I don't consider myself a collector, I do have a small collection of guns. A .45 Springfield XD, an AR15, a couple 9mm's, a 12 gauge combo and a 12 gauge sawed off.
Since highschool, I've always enjoyed the occassional drink (and by occassional, I mean "many, on occassion") so now I have a nice collection of top shelf liquor, spirits and a few bottles of wine. I've recently become somewhat of a scotch drinker; I've got Macallan's, Chivas Regal, Johnny Black, Johnny Gold, Glenlivet and some flammable mystery malt that came in a 40 bottle. Also keep some Patron, Jameson, Maker's Mark, Tangueray, Grey Goose and other various flavored vodkas on hand. I'm far from a wine connoisseur and couldn't tell you what I've got there and if it's any good or not.
And my most recent hobby, to compliment my scotch drinking, has been cigar smoking (and any true cigar smoker will tell you it's a "hobby" not a "habit" ). Far too many to name here but some of my favorites are Rocky Patel's Edge, CAO's Mx2, a few of the Partagas lines and most of the Gurkha's.

Stuffed animals.
And no, I don't buy them. People just keep giving them to me and I've got quite the collection now.

I used to collect blades of all sorts...
I was heavily into guns back in the day too, but obviously, not something I was in a position to collect... Currently, I only have my G3 standard issue... I've prolly fired twenty different guns tho... And when my financial situation allows it, I do intend to rekindle this interest...
My liqour selection is growing as well... Used to be a beer man back when I drank to get drunk, but I'm discovering whiskey more and more... Mostly Irish at this point (Jameson, Tullamore, Green Spot), which I guess makes me kind of a girl, but I'm getting into Scotch whiskies as well and have two unopened bottles (Glenfiddich, of course, and J&B) waiting for me to get a set of proper glasses...
Getting a decent amount of training equipment, purchased and home-made as well... Amongst the home-made stuff is a wrist roller, a 2-board (which i haven't used yet), a roped medicine ball (sand-filled b-ball) and a sand bag (which I haven't really put to use either)... I've good amount of grip strength stuff too; grippers, sledgehammers, nails... And I'm planning on picking up a tractor tire sometime this winter, which I'm going to store at my school as I attempt to push strongman training on everybody...
Don't smoke tho...
My CD-collection is somewhere around 300 and always growing... I plan on making it an LP-collection when it's practical and financially viable...
Funny how many similar interests we'd have... I wonder if these are universal guy things...

I don't know?, I can certainly see true cigar smoking as a habit?
for instance there is a blend I truely enjoy to smoke and I've went as far as to find the cheapest brand of that blend I could and they are $1 a stick, (which I won a box of 20 for about .60 ea.) the thing is I have no time to smoke them so I'm still always buying way more than I smoke, and I don't smoke unless it's close to drink time.
I also enjoy trying differant blends.
on the collecting side, I like to have a few expensive ones or ones with cool labels, they will be smoked, but I like to look at them for awhile? I also like to collect to show-off/give out, I can't ever wait to get togther with my bro-in-law (future in-law) and his friends at a get-together and hand out quality smokes to everyone and smoke with them, the storage units (humidors) for cigars are also very nice furnish style items (my wife loves the nice display humidor I have on the shelf in the living room).
all in all I like to have lots of wine, cigars, beer on hand in case of hard times, and need to save money, I like variety for both tastes, and "show"!

in the works Dan, in the works!!!
btw, Dan have your ever smoked a padron? (don't know if I've ever asked?), but how bout a 1964 anniver. I saw one at Mt. washington for $30 and I see I could win a 5pack for around 40-50ish?
I'm thinking I may treat myself to these soon, as I have just over 100sticks right now, and only smoke about 1-week on average, proiblly won't even get one in this weekend.

Man, you can't be all calling her your wife yet when you haven't even proposed! I referred to her as your wife in that email poking fun at your domesticated ass! LOL!
And yes, I just bought a box of Padron's when Jose and I hit up that sale at the Humidour. I got 13 maduro and 13 natural for $67 bucks. Good smoke - I like the natural better (for a change).
I did try one of the Anniversary lines, I believe it was the 1926 natural. Good smoke but I'm not sure it warranted the price tag that was on it. Those expensive smokes I prefer to pick up smaller singles to taste test it before I start bidding on 5 packs.
Speaking of, I just won a 5 pack of those Gurkha Black Puro's ($17), a Gurkha Titan ($7) and a Gurkha Grand Age ($7). Also got a box of Astral Grand Reserve 96's (25 for $31 - killer deal!).

she has referred to as "husband" before, it's all good my freind!!!
yeah though real expensive ones will have me disappointed if they aren't to my tastes, but $10 a stick (40-50 for 5) I may consider?
How bout Ashton VSG or any of the Aston line?
nice deal, I won my "black puros" for $19.
I was at the shop the other day to pick up some humi packs, and had to bite my lip not to buy anything espcially since it's retail, well they sell 10-sticks (no labels) for $30 and I may have to hit that up, it's thrill to just try something I have no clue what it is, at a reasonable price.

It won't be long before your house is littered with potpourri and candles, and people are thanking you for Christmas cards you had no idea about! I just hope she takes your last name and not the other way around! hahaha!
The Ashton VSG is excellent! I haven't had much experience with the rest of the Ashtons though.
The CAO Vision and Soprano are also very good smokes, even with high price tag. The Vision comes in this humidor... and no, this is not my picture, my gun or my cigars (unfortunately).

she can paint the living room pink for all I care, just as long as I have most of the basement!
ah, of course she will have my lastname
I figured the "soprano" was just a hyped-up cigar, I notice the "Tony Soprano" signature is just silly on the price $1,000 for a box plus some extras? no thanks. I hear Frank Vincent has a line out (he's Phil Leahtardo on sopranos).
beautiful box that is!!!, just beautiful!!!

The Soprano is very hyped, and though it is a very good cigar, I can't say that it is priced fairly. I paid $14 for a Vision in Ocean City (which you can figure a couple dollar mark-up for a tourist town) but you can get a box (20 sticks plus the sweet humidor) for like $210 at the tobacco outlet in Rehoboth. I haven't seen the Visions anywhere around here though... if you see any, pick us up a couple - Jose has been itching for one!

Aaaaand, taking the thread in a completely different direction...
I have a huge comic book collection. Some of them are actually worth some money, too, like for instance I have a complete set of the very first Wolverine mini-series, and I have a nearly-complete collection of Sandman by Neil Gaiman. I have the complete run of New Mutants, tons and tons of old X-men comics, tons of old Batman and Superman comics (from the 80's), tons of old Spiderman comics, and on and on...
