Who do you think . . .

. . . will be the next President of the United States?

Who do you think this person will beat in the General Election?

I really haven't followed the election to closely. I am after all canadain.. If I had to choose from what little I know though, I would say obama or hillary.

Bill Clinton was a good president in my opinion, so my assumption is Hillary would make a good president too. Obama seems like a level headed guy to me, and I think it would be great to see american's finally accept a black president.

None of this is based on who I think is going to win, just who i think should win. perhaps if I knew more about the election I would have a differnt opinion. I just think america needs change and a black or female president would be a good thing in the long run. Perhaps it would bring americans closer? I dunno...

who do you think is going to win Pierini? after all it is your thread!

I don't know, that is why I started this thread. I'm still thinking and don't have a clue yet, other than I pray it will not be Hilary.

Anyone with out the last name of Bush or Chaney! Hell at this point I am ready to put Bono (yes I realize he can't be president because he wasn't born here and for that matter isn't a citizen but....) in as president and elect the looney toons characters to congress they couldn't do any worse of a job!

Come to think of it Joe Tori is out of a job... He did a good job managing a bunch of rich cry babies and getting good results... maybe he'd get congress to do something other than sell out to the highest bidder!

Fred Thompson. A straight-shooter, a modern day Ronald Reagan. I cant comprehend the following behind Hillary, even with another damn scandal brewing.

I think this is a very heated topic. Religion, politics, and sexual orientation are just those kinds of subjects that,....if we're given permission to discuss then, I feel the need to ask if there's a permission to truly answer without rerpercussion.

If politics is open game: Does that mean we're "free" to dicuss things like abortions and religion?

Its just peoples opinions here, and as long as were all mature enough to accept each others opinions without getting mad at one another. whats the harm?

I myself said Obama or Hilery (probably due to my lack of knowledge) and I could tell some other members definatly disagreed with what I said but they were not mad at me for saying it....

Religon on the other hand is in my opinion a much more touchy subject that I feel should not by incorperated into this message board.

Elite, out of curiosity, why is religion more touchy?

I always figured politics and sexual identification were touchy subjects,...but I honestly never understood why any subjects "had" to be touchy as long as people discussed topics, and didn't attack the individuals making the post. But, I suppose that's hard for everyone to abide by which is why off-topic forums are still pretty muted......so as not to cause bad feelings, rivalry or remove the potential that some may have of "killing the messenger"....

I always liked talking about all sorts of things (sometimes too much, I need to learn when to shut up),..but I just like the concept of debate for the sake of discussion, because it's enlightening. I've actually changed some of my former beliefs by being willing to listen to totally opposing viewpoints just to hear what they had to say instead of digging my heels in.

At any rate, I suppose there's a time and place (and boards) for everything out there....and we seem to be doing fine so far with what we've got, who we've got, and what we're saying to each other. Fingers crossed?

Because politics are just people, religon is for "many", one's way of understanding the universe. I think its ok to debat with friends and family, but you never know how someones going to respond on a message board when two people are talking about contradicting beliefs..

You could say the same for politics. but again its just people getting elected.

Just my opinion though. if there was a religon thread on this site that didn't go down hill really fast I might take part in it.

Well you could certainly start one and see where it goes.

I started this thread about the next President because I really don't know and I haven't really studied the candidates. I do have some values criteria I will use to judge them but I have found when looking at their websites, you sometimes have to dig deep and read between the lines to see where they stand and the hot issues.

There should be no problem with religion been discussed in an educated non hateful setting. Too much political correctness in the world today. Its topics that raise a furor and interest that gets traffic going. Its a topic everyone has an opinion on in some way

I tell you one thing when I change my sig in 2 months to 'Happy Christmas' I will e-slap anyone that dares ask me to change it to the ridiculous and insulting 'Happy Holidays.'

On topic on this side of the water its hard to see America voting in a black or woman president. Hilary does have a lot of strange support no small part due to her hubby but the thought is there are still a lot of narrow minded people out there so it is thought anyway.
And no if you dont vote for either of these two I am not calling you sexist or racist.
