Never taken supplements before. Going to start working out about 3 times a week for a hour each session. What supplements would you recommend for gaining muscle mass???

If you're just starting out, you don't really need any supplements aside from maybe a protein powder. As long as you have a good workout program and diet set up, you should be able to acheive your goals without supplements.

I am pretty sure you are thinking of a teen starting out lifting and the age old advice of "good diet and protein is all you need" is valid there. She, on the other hand, is not a teenager. Supplementing will only help her see results faster and give her more motivation to reach her goals

I agree 100%.

Get your diet and training in check for at least 6 months then start looking into supps.
