About to start taking supplements...

Hi again,

I've been reading the posts about workouts and supplements which help you build muscle, and that just working out will not do it as effective as working out and taking supplements. I've decided to start taking supplements, but I've got a couple newbie questions about these. I've already performed a search through this forum's category, and could not find the specfic answer to my questions.

1) I'm 16 years old, is this too young to be taking supplements?
2) If not, which supplements would you recommend me taking to help gain muscle mass?
3) Is there a site where I can buy these supplements? I went to my local grocer store the other day, and I couldn't find any protein shakes (but then again I don't know any of the name brands, so I wasn't 100% sure what I was looking for).

I understand that I should be talking the supplements when I first wakeup, and after a workout (twice a day), correct me if I'm wrong there but that's what I remember reading off a post somewhere.

Thanks in advance!

1) no
2) whey protein is a must, creatine (if you get creatine make sure it has the creapure label on it), gluatmine, and blended protein are others i would go with if i had the money.
3) www.netrition.com

how long have you been working out?

Thanks for your reply theroc,
I started lifting small free weights at the age of 12, but for the past 2 months I've been following a more strict routine, and been trying my best to eat as healthy as possible.

sorry to bring this up, but would just whey protein be enough for me? If I took them twice a day.

I remember reading one post that said I should take this first thign when I wake up, and after a workout. But then I read another post that said I shoudl take it after a workout, and right before bed to benefit from it.

Also, I'm looking at that website and there are 2 different categories for whey protein:
1) Whey Protein Isolate (WPI)
2) Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC)
With a bunch of brands under each of them, could you be a bit more specific on which one I should take?
Here is the link to them, and their brands:

Thanks again!
