Cortisol is not usually a player in fatty deposits on the thighs (or butt/hips). Alpha-2 adrenoreceptors both block the action of Nor-epinephrine and work as a negative feedback signal, decreasing production. Nor-epinephrine is a fight or flight substance in the body, that is also quite handy at mobilizing (burning) fat. It just so happens that a-2 receptors are very dense in those areas, making them particularly resistant to fat loss.
Yohimbine is a potent a-2 antagonist - meaning it blocks the receptors so that Nor-epinephrine can do its work. That is why topical yohimbine (Lipoderm-y or Lipoderm-Ultra) is very effective in those areas. Unfortunately, Yohimbine does not agree with a lot of people orally - causing racing heart and Anxiety.
If those are your "trouble" areas (meaning you are losing fat, but those areas are really stubborn - no matter how much you diet or do your cardio), then a topical Yohimbine would be your best bet to help you.
Shameless Product Pimp: bulknutrition.com has a coupon running right now in Muscle and Fitness, buy one get one free for Lipo Ultra.

Chronically elevated cortisol is very common in men, but can also be seen in women. As I talked about above, the female fat patterns (hips/butt/thighs) are mainly determined by the Alpha-2 receptors. Men, who tend to deposit fat around the midsection, tend to respond better to AbSolved.
However, for women that also have abdominal fat (or are chronically stressed out) also respond VERY well to AbSolved. Feedback is consistently reporting girth reductions of an inch or more in the first WEEK of use.
I can vouch for this personally, as can my girlfriend - we both lost over an inch in the first week of use.
(BTW - 1fast400 and bulknutrition are the same company - so you might notice a similarity in their websites. I dont know if the coupon is an option at 1fast, though)

how temporary are the results? does the fat usually come back after you stop using the product or can it be maintained?

Actually, having said what I said about my thighs, I have just realized tonight that I have lost significant weight there. Some jeans that two months ago I had to wear without underwear just to get them on, and that were still extremely tight and uncomfortable in those areas, went on tonight *with* underwear and were actually lose all round! Never thought id see the day. My belt is also on a hole that it has never been on before.
I guess that brings me to another question: If I seem to be losing the weight right now with (dare I say?) ease, are these products still of any benefit to me? Will they increase the speed of my fat loss? Or, given that I still have about 20lb of fat to go, are they something I should keep as my secret weapon for when im trying to shed those last three or four stubborn pounds?
Thanks dsade,
PizzaEater.

Once you have lost the weight it is gone. But if you don't pay attention to you diet and fall back into lax eating patterns, then yes, the fat will come back.

Could someone just tell me, is this sort of stuff just for the last few pounds? Or will it be effective longer term, throughout weightloss?

Great point, Ironman - very true
PizzaEater - fat pattern distribution (SAT or VAT, Abdominal or female-type) sort of determines the answer. If VAT is your primary issue, Absolved will help you quite a bit even at higher bodyfat levels, and can be incorporated into your fatloss regimen earlier.
While the effects of the Lipoderm Ultra (and all other Yohimbine-based topicals) are most dramatic at lower bodyfat percentages, it is helpful at nudging your body to burn fat preferentially at certain areas that would normally be resistant. Meaning, most people usually notice they start losing fat on their arms, then upper body, then finally those last stubborn areas. Basically, by incorporating Lipo Ultra you can overcome the normal limitations imposed by the A2 receptors, lowering the threshold levels of lipolytic hormones necessary to mobilize that fat. Instead of burning "from the extremities inward", as is normally seen (arms, then upper body, etc.), you will be able to target the midsection earlier.
Again, as Ironman, myself, and others have pointed out - no product is going to work if you are not controlling your diet and making sure you are in a calorie deficit.

For your review to have any validity, you are going to have to be more specific about the exact product you used. That is like driving a '75 Gremlin, and then loudly proclaiming that all cars are pieces of ****. (no offense to Gremlin lovers out there)
Examine the mechanisms by which a product works, or doesn't work before you dismiss an entire category of products.
