all commercial gainers are pretty much the same: whey and maltodextrin. some may also contain fructose and others may mislead ppl with their "
complex carbohydrates" which we know is still maltodextrin.
my opinion of the best gainer is a homemade one. there is nothing special about commercial gainers.
using gainers in and of itself does not cause
weight gain. one has to first determine how many calories they are consuming and then add from there with either more servings of food or more meals. then when more food or meals cannot be added, then liquid calories are introduced to the meal plan. the majority just add a weight gainer to their meal plan with no idea of how many calories they are consuming and end up with a gain in bodyfat. thats not the way its done
typically, you only want to gain 1-2lbs a week at the most. for some, it'll be 1-2 pounds every two weeks. an even steady pace is best, too much in too soon a time is not good. you will see a gain in weight after you begin eating more calories than you are burning off during each day.
