Caffeine/coffee (black, obviously) beneficial for fat loss?

I'm currently trying to lose body fat and my teacher today told me that drinking coffey will aid in burning body fat.

I can't quite remember what exactly he said but I believe it was along the lines of: coffey, (or the caffeine in it... whatever it is) will stimulate an enzyme in your body that causes the fat stores to be realeased so that more can be burned. The fat storage releasing enzyme he was tlaking about I can't quite remember... I do know for sure that the name was lipo something.

Has anyone ever heard of this?? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Don't know about the enzyme, but coffeE will increase your metabolism a bit and thus aid in fat loss....not much , though. Caffeine works better if you take it with Ephedra and Aspirin.

For caffeine to cause significant fat loss by itself, a gram or more daily is needed. However, there are some substances that it is very synergistic with -ephedrine, nicotine, perhaps yohimbine.

The enzyme caffeine inhibits is phosphodiesterase. It is also an adenosine antagonist. These are negative feedback mechanisms that prevent the release of norepinephrine, a fat burning hormone.

So caffeine will stimulate the norepinephrine hormone?

And no I am not using it to lose weight alone... I'm doing hard cardio first thing in the morning then weight training after school 5 days a week. With cardio first thing in the morning followed by a short weight train session on Saturdays. I was simply wondering if drinking black coffey before (like half an hour) my cardio if it would aid in burning fat.

Thanks for the help guys, and I'm just wondering if you know of any other natural foods that will help burn fat/raise metabolism? I know green tea and ginger root are often found in natural fat burners. Can they be found in any sort of vitamins so to not have to pay the rediculous prices they have at supplement suppliers?

Green tea isn't really expensive, is it? At least here it's not. Have a few cups of green tea during the day. You can also make tea with ginger root....good for after meals....tasty, too.

No green tea isn't expensive here. It is really helpful though for weight loss right? You always see green tea extract in fat burners... yes and ginger root too.

Anyone have any articles or studies they can link me to on these substances or any other natural ones?

Also where can you find/get ginger root?

Again any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
