Colon Cleansing

Could you recommend me a suppliment or drug that could help me cleanse my colon here, as I feel that I haven't even been through a colon cleansing session at all and I think that the more than 20 years of build up can be harmful?

Hi PCPoon-

Simple problem with a simple solution- you just need more fiber in your diet.

It can be fruits, veggies or a fiber supplement... Use veggies or fiber supplement if you don't want to use fruit while cutting, if you're "on the bulk" go ahead and use fruit, too.

A note about supps- be sure not to use a reactive laxative, but instead use a natural, bulky fiber like psyllium husk. Very gentle, it does not cause a reaction in your system like chemical laxatives- it just provides bulk with no discomfort, and it can be used more often than chemical laxatives, which can cause your system to become dependant on them.

I use orange flavored sugar-free psyllium. Tastes exactly like Tang.

Go natural!

What good is it if you don't have sufficient enzymes to digest the fiber if I were to consume more fiber? Because right now, I only see one bowel movement a day (sometimes I do see 2). Is this a result of an unhealthy colon?

There is nothing wrong with taking a crap once a day or less. You do not need to be some kind of clockwork-like crap machine.

However, I do like this quote from Steve's linked site:

"Yesterday both AM and PM buckets - 3-4 cups of brown and black thick mucus. I love feeling tons of it just poor [sic] out. It's so satisfying..."

Steve, those pics are nasty, yet very funny. pcpoon, you usually see one bowel movement a day? That is considered good and regular, you are lucky. Man, you should of seen me when I was younger, I saw a bowel movement every 5-7 days. lol Seriously, that's how it was for me, I had bad constipation, which I got from my grandmother and my mom (damn genes lol). Today it's somewhat better though, I see a bowel movement every 2-3 days. It's just the way I am, but I did ask a doctor, and the doc said that constipation isn't a risk factor for colon cancer, which is a relief to me.

But seriously - what do you guys take for a good clean-out?

I sometimes eat two cups of prunes.

Definetly prunes! I have to eat prunes nearly every day in order to have a bowel movement every 2-3 days.

Still, I think that the distended stomach is caused the toxins that lie within the colon.
