confused...dextrose or maltodextrin?


Which is better to mix in post workout protein shakes....dextrose or maltodextrin? and how much. My shakes usually contain around 30 grams of protein.

Both will work. My choice is dextrose because it is a bit sweeter than maltodextrin and mixes better. Dextrose is also a simple carb, malto is complex, however, they are each 100 on the GI scale. Use 50 to 100 grams post workout.

I prefer malto for the same reason IronMan chooses dextrose - with the whey powder and juice that I sometimes use, shakes with dextrose are way too sweet for me. I like the way the malto adds some texture as well.

Yep, that's exactly what I decided to do. 1 scoop protein, 1 scoop dextrose and 1 scoop malto.... 2:1 carb to protein
