Creatine and warm water

Is it better to take creatine with warm water? This does not sound like it tastes very good either. I was thinking for my post workout shake of mixing 8-10oz Welch's grape juice, creatine, vanilla whey and a banana and throwing it all in a blender but would this defeat the purpose if creatine is better taken with warm water.

The warm water is just to make it dissolve. Creatine will not dissolve in a cool liquid, it just floats in it as you stir. Undissolved creatine does not get absorbed into your system very easily, and you will end up passing most of it.

If you add cold water to the warm water once it's dissolved, the creatine is still dissolved, and it tastes fine.

I usually mix my creatine with cheap kids punch or iced tea crystals. I put some hot watter in the glass, stir in the creatine and the drink crystals, then stir in some cold water.

In your protein shake, you could just dissolve the creatine in a little hot water, then pour that into the blender with the rest of your ingredients.

True. That is a good idea with the pre dissloving technique never even crossed my mind. Does that look like a good post wkout shake though or should I add anything. Is grape juice good?

Muscle Media magazine has a "Research Update" column. They posted a couple of studies that show that dissolving the creatine first has a direct effect on how much of it your body actually absorbs. Creatine won't dissolve in cool liquids, so using warm/hot water was suggested. I threw the magazine down and ran to the kitchen to try it. You really can see the difference immediately, it's pretty cool.

A few days later, I laughed when I saw an infomercial for some mineral supplement. They were demonstrating how when mixed with cold water it is just suspended in the liquid, and when mixed with warm to hot water, it dissolves completely. That's when they showed that the minerals stayed dissolved after you add cold water back inot the mix. Again, I ran into the kitchen to try it with creatine. What do you know? It WORKS!!!

Casanova88:

In warm water, the creatine DOES most definitely dissolve completely. The water is clear, and there are no floating particles. Try it.

Yea, and just wait for a couple minutes or so for it to cool down. Then you'll see the crystals starting to reform. Cannot your stomach heat (before it digests it, and without the hot water), basically do the same thing?

After all this to-ing and fro-ing, I think I will go change to a serum as apposed to a powder just to be safe. Predissolved & less mucking around with warm water, then cold water then put it in my shake, etc. Rather just drop a few drops of liquid into my shake and be done with it, aye!

yeah it shouldn't matter if creatine is pre dissolved since your stomach acids would break it down, right?

I think I'll just stick to creatine powder added to my shake then. After all I ask my body to absorb plenty of other foods/ supplements in similar form and if I only absorb 60% (for example) of the creatine I take I'll just add a little bit extra to compensate.

I'm sorry... just have to clear something up. I put creatine in a glass then add hot water (vice versa needs more water to dissolve) then I add gatorade mix and cold water.

I also do the same but instead of using gatorade mix I use Prolab N-Large2; would this work as well?
