??Creatine Question??

Forgive my ignorance....

Would there be any benefits to taking Creatine on a cutting diet?? I read the thread above and I understand why it is a must during bulking.

My theory is...if you are lifting heavy anyway....and taking protein plus dextrose post workout....why not?

Any thoughts

Taking creatine during cutting can be done, but it is very difficult. Most people when they initially start taking creatine have a large weight gain in water weight. This can be a set back if you're trying to get a smaller look, but won't add any actual fat. It will help with strength and by lifting more you'll be able to get more muscle mass which again, if you're looking to have a smaller look, might not be something you want. But if you're just looking to lower your BF % creatine won't hurt or help you. Creatine gives you more energy in the first 5-10 seconds of muscle contraction (i.e. lifting weights or sprinting) but won't help you things like lifting with high reps or cardio.

So all in all, you'll probably gain some water weight, no fat, and you'll be stronger. Taking it depends on your goals: Look smaller or lose BF%.

Thanks for the reply. That was the information I was looking for. I have another thread on the diet board about short term diet cycling. ie one month cutting/one month bulking. Sounds like the creatine could be good for the bulking months.
