Creatine vs. getting cut
Hello everyone, I have a question about creatine. I currently weigh about 195 lbs at 5"10, and take some glutamine and 5 grams effervescent creatine right after my workout.
I am trying to lose some bodyfat, around 5-10 lbs and get a more ripped look. I'm not fat by any means, but would like to get competition - cut for some photos. Is this hopeless while taking creatine? I try not to take very much. Will taking a fat-burner like xenadrine also be ineffective, during this time?
The creatine seems to be helpful for making strength and mass gains, so it would be a shame to stop using it. Thanks in advance.
I am sorry for making this post in two forums, but this one is probably the appropriate one.

I'm going to scream right now, but don't take offense to it. It's just my nature.
HOLY ****ING **** THERE IS A ****ING QUESTION ABOUT ****ING CREATINE AND FAT ON THIS VERY ****ING PAGE. DO A SEARCH, GODDAMNIT!
Ok, now that it is out of my system.
Creatine has nothing to do with fat gain. Food does. Quantity AND quality of food ingested.

My concern is that the water retention caused by creatine may prevent getting the "cut" look, not so much cause body-fat gain.

There is no question that creatine causes some water retension. Will it be detrimental to your photo image? Who knows. Simply experiment and see for yourself how dramatic an effect it has on you.
I don't use creatine, so ... but the suggestion seems logical to me.

There is absolutely no way to be competition - cut while on creatine because of the water retention. That's part of the reason why it helps with strength gains is that it allows more water to be held in the muscle, thus giving it more room to move. This is one of the reasons steroids make you stronger as well, the water retention and of course the extra hormones. That's why sometimes you can lose a little strenght when you come off of creatine, you lose the extra water in the muscle and it's not able to move as freely.

Is it worth taking creatine while on a two week bulking cycle then? And then not using it during the cutting cycle?

How much would you expect to gain from a 2 week bulking cycle anyway?

Giving the muscle "more room to move" increases strength? Please explain how this works.

I know next to nothing about the ABCDE diet. However, if your goals are just to quickly gain weight for some reason, I guess 8 lbs in two weeks would be desireable. Keep in mind though that most likely a lot of that will be fat gain.

NateDogg, I had read that in The Steroid Bible, and I also read it in a few articles. I'll see if I can dig something up on it, but like I said before, they basically say that the water retention caused by juice is one of things that helps increase strength because there's more water in the muscle. I'll look it up tomorrow when I'm at work.

Welcome SOBEK1277,
Dont feel silly about the creatine question, I have been on it for a long time, and I am taking a two week break from it to basically see what changes I notice. I think that it has different effects on some people. It also has a lot to do with timing and water consumption. You can use the search function and find tons of info on it.
Good luck in getting cut.

I would definitely be interested in reading where this info came from. I simply cannot buy that increasing muscle size, without increasing the number of contractile proteins, can possibly result in strength gain. Please post more info when you find it.

You cut for two weeks after that, in theory burning fat and little muscle. I am still experimenting with this diet.
