Creatine weight gain - how much to expect?

I completed the loading phase of creatine supplementation a couple oif days ago and am now in the 5 gram a day maintenance phase. I know to expect to see some weight gain as my muscles start holding more water. I'm wondering how much gain to expect. What is normal? I still need to lose some bodyfat. Can I expect to continue to lose fat while on Creatine?

Thanks,

Gearloose

Yep, for many, creatine can help one lose fat and gain strength and muscle size! The initial weight gain you see will be water that is drawn into your muscles, which is good. This will enable you to lift more when you workout, and thus make faster lean muscle gains, given you do everything else right (eat, rest, train properly, etc). The initial amount you gain off your loading phase depends on many things that vary between each individual. Some people can gain 5-10 pounds right after having loaded up on creatine, while others may notice minimal gains initially, then more explosive gains the longer they are on creatine. So, it depends on the person.....I know for myself, I can gain an easy 7 pounds of weight within the first week of having loaded up on creatine.

I went from 170 to 178, which is in that 10-pound ballpark. You'll definitely gain weight, but it's not the bad kind of weight. Like Todd said, it's water that helps your muscles stay fresher longer and aids growth.

I use Kre-Alkalyn buffered creatine pills and I haven't noticed a weight gain at all, but I have noticed a strength gain. I'm also doing a lot of cardio to lose some fat, and that could be evening out the gains.
