I think you are mistaken. Creatine does not need an insulin spike (therefore, does not need sugar) to be taken up into muscle cells.

Creatine just needs to be digested. There's a "myth" out there that higher insulin will make it better, but its the same in water.

I'm sure you have all done your homework. Some camps say mix it with water, some say mix it with grape juice. I don't think it really makes any difference
at all...as long as you don't snort it. Hmm...now that might work....

I believe that the reason people recommend mixing Creatine with grape juice is as follows:

Post workout, your body is crying out for nutrients. Sugars, being simple structures are absorbed more quickly than other things. Taking Creatine with a sugary liquid (i.e. grape juice) means that it will be more quickly absorbed, the sugars in the grape juice acting as a shuttle to your muscles.

The sooner your body receives the nutrients that it needs, the better.

Cheers,
Hav

Before you spout out "duh" make sure you know what the hell you are talking about. Sure, mix it with sugar and it will be quickly absorbed - and so will the sugar. Creatine mixed with water, or other liquid, will STILL be absorbed - just not as quickly (supposedly).

As long as you are absorbing the creatine before your next workout, you will still yield all the benefits. So the only choice you have to make is: do you want added sugar, or dont you? It has nothing to do with OVERALL absorption.
