All drugs containing PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE are being recalled. You may want to try calling the 800 number listed on most drug boxes and inquire about a REFUND. Please read this CAREFULLY. Also, please pass this on to everyone you know.

STOP TAKING anything containing this ingredient. It has been linked to increased hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding in brain) among women ages 18-49 in the three days after starting use of medication. Problems were not found in men, but the FDA recommended that everyone (even children) seek alternative medicine.

I recall that Dimetapp pulled their products for a couple a years here (Canada) due to one of the ingredients. It has been back on the shelf again reformulated.

Darn shame too. I remember when PPA was available OTC and by prescription. It worked so much better than sudafed.

They pulled it because a few people took too much and had strokes.

Hey, better safe than sorry. I remember it because my kids were still doing the dimetapp thing at that time. I was wondering why there was nothing about it on my regular rounds of news updates.

Sometimes I think we get so blasted with information that it's hard to distinguish the real news from the recirulated sensationalism.
