Dextrose


Could someone fill me in on what dextrose is?

Dextrose is sugar. If you do a search you will see that is is mentioned in just about every creatine thread. It's used to spike your insulin and shuttle the creatine and/or protein to your muscles more quickly.

So how much do you think I should take after I work out. I plan on adding it to my protein shake which has:
2 Scoops of EAS Whey
8 Orange Juice
1 teaspoon Flax Oil

Keep in mind I also eat dinner before I work out, always.

i woudnt put flax seed oil in a postworkout shake. Fat slows the absorbtion of carbs and protein and you want them to be absorbed fairly quickly to replace glycogen stores and use the anabolic window of opportunity to its fullest.

As far as how much dextrose, its different for everyone as far as how many carbs are necessary to replace stores. Also the intensity and duration of your workout make a difference. A 30min workout is not going to need the same amount of food as an hour long workout for instance.
