does creatine cause acne?

I'm thinking of taking creatine and I am just wondering if its common to cause acne to people who are already acne prone?

Also I currently take around 100g of protein a day and I weigh 210lbs. Wondering if I should up that as well? Is there any unhealthy amount of protein to take in a day?

Hi Tom,

From my experience creatine doesn't cause acne. A couple of years ago when I started taking the supplement my skin was quite prone to spots, but it didnt make them any worse. As long as you keep yourself well hydrated this will help alot.

Regarding the protein intake, I think you could increase that considerably without worrying about over-doing it. Alot would depend on how active you are and your overall goals, but 100g is quite low and think you would benefit from increasing this.

How safe is creatine? Are there any facts that would point to it being unsafe to take?

Whats a good amount of protein to take per day without causing damage to kidney/liver? I frequently hear of taking 1g per 1lbs of body weight. But wouldn't 210g/day of protein be very excessive?

I am moderately active (don't do cardio) and my goal is to gain mass.

Creatine does not cause acne though if taken with high sugar levels can effect hormone levels inc cortisol and have a minor effect
From what is known creatine is very safe take with plenty of water.
Once again 210g protein should be fine with plenty of water but more accurate if too much would be 1g/ 1lb lean body weight
