I chose not to be a vegetarian, simply because I really like meat and milk, but after reading thru some of that stuff I dedided to don't drink regular milk anymore. My local grocery store sells organic milk so I'll switch to that, I know that there might be some stuff in milk that is not good for you but I don't really care, I always drank it and it's a habit that I don't want to break. Another thing that I don't eat is veal...
I do like grains and vegetables, and they are part of my diet, I just don't rely on them as my main sources of protein.
I do eat a lot of cottage cheese though:confused:

Probably a good decision. Any decision in the right direction is a good one. There certainly isn't much sense in giving up things that you completely love and couldn't do without.

Balance is important. My personal take on the diet thing is...for the most part...

Eat whatever you want but make sure that you consume much more of the good stuff than the bad stuff.

I think that would solve many people's problems.

Interesting thread here. I'm probably the only one here that agrees with carcajou. If the cattle weren't so sick, perhaps the milk would be healthier. Personally, I think if you're going to include dairy in your diet, it should be organic.

Well MsFit this may disappoint you but,.... you're not alone!

Yep, you have company. So it looks like it's the three of us.

I've long wondered why we are the only species who continues to consume any form of breast milk, least of all our own, beyond the age of weaning. Weaning is weaning.... as our bodies develop our ability to break down nutrients as well as our requirements FOR those nutrients changes. If we were to drink milk, I think human breast milk would be the closest thing to a perfect food there could be.

Regardless of how "acceptable" it is or how long it's been in practice, it amazes me that no one even blinks an eye at the idea of the fact we're ingesting milk designed to help baby calves grow into bigger cows.

There are no other species that drink milk from a different species, the way we suck up cow milk.

There are studies which show quite clearly the numerous links associated with dairy consumption and allergies, mucus production, asthma, inflammation, etc., etc.

And,.....well yeah, it can make ya fart too.

The 'three musketeers' join me...I admire you all for your intellect and courage to learn the truth rather than go with the crowd. I have been extremely busy as of late so I have not been posting but I was very pleasantly surprised to read these posts added on to this thread.
Ms Fit's personal message to me led me to check the thread...a special thank you for the note MsFit. I wasn't getting email notification so I thought that thr thread was dead.

Merrida...I like what you said about milk being for helping 'baby calves grow into bigger cows'. It reminded me of something John Robbins said in 'Diet For A New America'...a book which changed my life and made me infinitely healthier than I ever could have been without it.
