Ephedra & MSG, a bad mix?

Is an ephedra supplement dangerous if used in a diet heavy in MSG?
I eat a lot of packaged lunch meat to get lean protein throughout the day, but it's loaded with salt and I noticed that MSG is listed in the ingredients. I don't believe ephedra deserves the rap it's gotten [see below for why] but I am concerned about MSG and Ephedra every day in my diet. Am I at risk?

Also, anyone know the "real" story on the Ephedra ban. I have a friend that's a nutritionist at a supplement company that asserts that the ephedra ban is an 'end around' by the big pharmacutical companies to take back the money they were losing in prescription diet meds. According to my pal, ephedra is no more dangerous than aspirin...and that the number of people who have suffered adverse effects from taking it, are relatively the same number of people that have severe reactions to aspirin every year. Can anyone with a learned perspective confirm or deny?

I don't know of any bad reactions between ephedra and MSG. Not saying the aren't any, just that I don't know of any.

Maybe the ban was based on what your friend says, maybe it was based on politicians making sound bites for themselves. I personally don't think it is anywhere near as bad for people as the press has made it out to be. Jeez, there are 287 superfund sites still watiting to be cleaned up in the US. And yet all our administration can accomplish is banning ephedra. One thing I do know is that I am afraid that our current administration doesn't have much respect for certain inalienable rights. They all scare the heebie jeebies out of me anymore.
