Flax seed oil capsules. A ripoff?

I dint know that flax seed oil capsules were such ripoffs until i bought them. It would take 10 capsules to equal 1 tbsp of flax seed liquid right? Since 1 capsule has 1000mg=1g.

Its funny because the bottle only recommends 1-2 capsules per day which is far from the 1tbp recommendation on the flax seed oil liquid form.

Is it safe to take in lets say 5 capsules at once before i sleep along with my protein shake then about 8 in the morning when i wake up along with my breakfast?

ive been taking 1mg of flax seed oil capsules a day for about 3weeks. i do not know what kind of difference flax seed is supposed to make. i did notice that i crave less "fatty" foods.

Gosh, I don't know that I'd mess with uping the recommended dose without checking with someone who really knows their supplements. Some of those sup's can really mess with your body, you know?

Well, i got my info on this site

http://www.theministryoffitness.com/...y/faq/faq4.htm.

It says in the bottom: Note: 1 Tablespoon is equivalent to about 10-12 1000mg Capsules

And the recommended tbsp a day is 1-2 to prevent deficiency of Essential Fatty Acids

This depends on your macro's in your diet. You need to fit it in your fats ratio of nutrients. Whatever your amount is, before bed is a great time. It will help slow digestion, and the body metabolizes fats well at night, as well as unsaturated fats have no impact on insulin. So, if your diet macros call for instance 10% fat of a 3000 calorie diet, that would be 600 calories from fat for the day. This is approximately 34 gr. of fat for the day. Fit this amount in. 3 tbsp. for instance or in your case 30 capsules spread out at 3 meals. As athletes we need higher ranges of Omega 3's. The typical diet is very heavily laden toward Omega 6's anyway, and we need to bring that ratio to 1:1 at the very least. For athletes, a 3:1 ratio may even be better.

Just get the oil, you get a lot more for your buck and your body will absorb it better.

totalchaos tends to do this : it is quite annoying because I keep thinking it is a new thread and getting ready to post til i see the original thread date!

totalchaos: before replying to posts please check the original date, often the original poster is no longer even active in the forum.

whats wrong with resurrecting an old thread if it fulfills the question the new poster has?

I'm with 4strings on this one. I kept reading because I was interested. Facts generally don't change over time. I was hoping I would eventually find out what he/she had ended up doing and how it worked out.

My roommate gave me a free bottle of flaxseed caps, I take one with breakfast every morning, don't notice any effects, but they're good for you...not really looking for any real benefits to them.
