Flu Shots

Are bodybuilders and people who workout a lot more prone to getting sick during the winter? Anyone get a flu shot?
Was wonderiing...my office is giving the flu shts out for free for company employees...Was never into passive immunization before but I definitely want to avoid being sick through the winter when i am bulking.

I haven't had a flu shot since 1995 ... haven't had the flu since 1991.

There is quite a bit of evidence that the stress put on the body by hard training temporarily depresses the immune system. Also, hard training athletes often report they get sick more often than when they are not training so hard.

I agree with CJNY on the hard training effects on the immune system. I've been able to gauge when I'm stressed too much and back off. During the colder months I also take more Vit C than in the summer time.

I recently got a flu shot for he first time although I havnt had the flu in years. I got it because of all the Asian flu things going around, that and my mom still makes me get these things even though im 20! Anyways, I hear this shot makes a lot of people get sick just from the shot, but all I got was an incredebly sore arm for 3 days.

passive immunization is not a bad idea...in my opnion too theoretical to put a dead organism in you so your body can develop an immunity towards it.

I take 500 mg of vitamin C every morning. The thing I noticed about myself is that over the last couple of years i have been getting less sick..I contributre this towards gaining 30lbs since then
