Gaining Weight
hey there!
I'm 17 and weigh 140 pounds, I'm thin for my height (1,80 m) .
I think in gaining about 20 more pounds. I've tried eating more, but I think it doesnt work right, because both my parent are thin.
Should I Take creatine or whey gainers?
Or have a harder training regiment?
I'm quite athleting. I do everything from running to tennis and cycling
THanks

eat as much and everything you can get a hold of, at your age and with your metabolism, just knock everything down. of course eat good foods, but i wouldn't worry too much about the fatty foods as long as your getting good foods to.

If you're not adding lifting to all that cardio you're bound to stay thin. Now, for some that's not a bad thing, but if you're trying to add mass you need to have a lifting schedule in there along with your cardio. Stricktly eating more will probably not add the type of pounds you're looking for. Being young and athletic, you probably can pretty much eat whatever you want anyway. (Oh, those were the days )

I've thought about buying those kinds of supplements like creatine or protein whey... what do you think?
And by that I kind of ment, I do extreme sports, like jogging, footall, swimming, volleyball, tennis, etc we already do alot of exercise in my school and then Im into teams, and then I got all these extra hobbies. Bottom line, I'm thin :\
I'll take your advice But Ill try and do some research on supplements.
Thanks

yeah creatine and whey are good supplements to use. if your constantly involved in physical activities my first supp i would advise is a sport multi-vitamin tab, then the other 2 next. if your using creatine, its designed to replenish your ATP (PCr), during intense bouts on anaerobic activity mostly (such as weights, sprints, explosive/power/strength exercises) so unless your fatiguing in these exercises you might not get the full benefits of the creatine, and drink ****loads of water while using it.
also in regards to the whey, its good stuff, but again you will see greater resluts from consuming the whey with a resistance program. and also, don't just have the whey and thats it, i would add the whey as extra to a higher calorie diet.
if you wanna pack on some size, the main things i would advise are, start weight training, eat everything in site, add a multi, and then add whey and creatine.

Eat pretty much whatever you want (as long as you eat mostly good foods?)
Im 18 and have been working out for about 8 months or so, I too am in the whole weight gain mindset, but I strictly watch my diet (whole foods, pastas, rices, breads, protein shakes, lentils beans etc (im a veggie ).
So does this mean I can eat a chocolate bar/bag of fries here and there (say once a week?) without it affecting my fat levels? (I tend to put slightly more muscle on than fat when im bulking)

In my opinion I think you should be adding weight gain powders- not just plain whey. There are some nice ones out there with/out so much sugar if you're worried about that. Or protein bars which are usually closer to weight gain powders than just whey anyway!

s3ngh - The answer to your question is probably yes. According to JuJu's post he is extremely active so that will naturally keep his body fat down. Being 16 dosen't hurt either, but regardless french fries and chocolate once in a while won't kill you! You just have to pay attention to your body. Some people can eat french fries every day and still have 8% body fat. Me, I smell french fries and I jump up 2 percentage points .
So, as much as people are sick of hearing this you have to do what's right for YOU. Everyone is different and chocolate may affect you differently than it does someone else.

ahh i have this down packed as im the same
ill tell you now if you want it bad you have to dedicate yourself
FOOD is the key to success
and in my opinion supplements is the only way to get what you need in your body and still have a life
i take 2.5grams of protien and 4grams of carbs per pound of body weight everyday.
ok there is a key word in that last sentence ,its 'everyday'. People always say " tried eating but it didnt work"They never say how long it went for or how much they ate.
You have to dedicate and concentrate on having 6 meals a day/everyday, not mon, tue, wed then get pissed for 4 days then get back into it on monday again as it is fun but sadly wont help the problem you have.
if you can do it my way for 4 weeks the way i said you will start seeing results and find that it will become a way of life instead of a hassile
i use a bulk powder twice a day and a protien powder before bed. I also have one protien bar a day the rest is REAL FOOD:O
i also use creatine ,tribulus, methoxy, healthy fats and vitamins
This worked for me but the diet is harder than the weights itself:S
i would take 320grms of protien a day and 560grms of carbs for your weight. it sounds alot but you get used to it.
ohh yeah i cut most of my cardio out while i wanted to gain weight:S
good luck and tell us how you go

those are not extreme sports...if you want to gain mass and still do all your sports you need to EAT like pregnant momma elephant and find a way to fit some intense training into your shedule and still find time for a rest days.

Are you KIDDING me? I had NO idea this is what went into a bulking diet. My goodness. Here I was still using the 1g per pound of lean body weight idea.

hey Kitara
its pretty hard at the start but you get used to it. You just have to build up to it over a month or as you feel you can eat more.
but remember this works for me i do no cardio really, only weights and im loosing fat and gaining excellent size while eating like this!
In three and a half months ive gained 19.5lbs and lost around 2%b/f even though im not out to loose fat.

S3ngh - Kitara is right, it depends on the person. I tend to eat pretty much what I want (within reason) when bulking, then really watch what I eat when cutting.
I give myself one day a week on bulking cycles when I just eat absolutely anything - no limits This helps me keep my diet more honest during the rest of the week. When cutting, I just keep taking lots of protein and cut down calories, sugared carbs and saturated fats.
Sure I put on bodyfat when bulking with this method - although I don't really care at the moment. I'm just looking for size. Kind of a permanent bulking cycle at this present moment, although I plan to start cutting in a few months...
Arrgh no more chocolate biccies for me!!
