Gaining Weight is Such a Problem

I have such a problem gaining size and weight. now i think is the time for me to really try because college is out right now. can someone give me advice? i am 19, 160 lbs., and 6 ft. tall. I am involved in running, martial arts, basketball, swimming, and baseball. i am a very athletic person. i know my metabolism has a lot to do with it and i know i overtrain a lot, but it is just rediculous sometimes. i want to start trying supplements but i need to know some info before I start trying everything. After all, knowledge is power, right? If you can give me some info on supplements I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Eat like a Tasmanian devil (they're actually very cute, btw), chill out on the cardio, and lift like a madman only three or four times a week. Also eat.

Mate, you got to stick with your compound movements, squats, bench etc.... they will pack on the mass. Your diet has to be clean but plentiful, if you go and pick up a simple protein powder that will help you, dont go for the weight gainer shelfs, instead go for an MRP preferrably by myoplex for a good all rounder... this will just help you add the cals into that diet of yours, do no cardio either if you do all that sport.

Yeah, I agree. Overtraining is ridiculous. Especially if you know that you're overtraining and you're not doing anything about it. Since you're super-hyper-active your metabolism is running waaaaay hot. Your caloric expediture is probably through the roof. Either cut back on some of that sport activity or fail to gain. Other than that, listen to Lee's advice.

Creatine will get you bigger, but just eat a lot and lift like a mad man (as someone else said, lol).

These boards are helpful, but it's also very helpful to go to a local GNC or Supplements store and just ask about the stuff on the shelves.

Recheck your priorities dude. You are either going to be a "very athletic person" and spend your time with running, martial arts, b-ball, swimming, baseball, and overtraining......or you will make the commitment to proper training, eating, and rest that is NECESSARY to adding muscle and strength to your frame. Supps are NOT a magical answer, just a tool to help you achieve your goals.

So what are your goals going to be????

Jeet,

I do think it's possible to get bigger and do other sports. I also do martial arts (Muay Thai) and run and am 200Lbs and 6,1 tall. Don't matter how much you do, just make sure you eat enough calories divided in balanced meals..

its not impossible just EAT EAT EAT !!! If you burn 1000 calories after one sport you better eat 1500 right afterward . Keep on top of your calories and you will be able to pack on the pounds.

jeet,
Not the best way to do it but it worked for me. I ate everything!! Good, bad or otherwise. I put on the weight but it came at a price. LOTS OF CARDIO LATER!! You might consider that if you eat cleanly all of the time your body has found a way to burn what you put in. All of the fellas that have responded are correct. EAT MAN, EAT. Also you might consider the fact that you body is needing a boost to get kick started. If that means you give up your active lifestyle for a month so that the excess cals don't get burned off then so be it.
