gains from using weight gainer?

i've been training for about 2-3 years now
im 5'7 and 154lb and a hardgainer
hoping to get to 165-170 by the end of the 10lb n-large2 tub
im considering buying prolab n-large 2, i've seen alot of good reviews for the product and was wondering how much you guys have gained using this product or any other weight gainers
is it real easy to gain like 2-3lbs a week?

If you're gaining 2-3lbs per week chances are it'll be mostly fat. But yeah, to answer your question, its probably very easy to gain 2-3lbs of fat per week.

Why would you use wieght/fat gainers? Most of them are just whey and sugar. You'd be much better off just taking whey post workout and eating more around the clock 1000 calories taken quickly is almost definetly going to end up as fat.

if taken post workout, it won't be fat

but then, at other times, itr will be fat...

it also depends on genetics

Most gainers are filled with maltodextrin which is technically a complex carb but its fast at digesting so it is pretty much a sugar and i would only consume that postworkout too. For a good quality gainer grind a cup of oats in a coffee bean grinder to a powder, add some Enova Oil, and however much whey, shake and drink. Cheaper, easy, and good for you too.

I dont see how you can take in over 1000 calories in one meal, even if it is post workout, and not have at least some of it get stored as fat.

Hardgainer' s advice

I too am a hardgainer, but it's important to note that's not IMPOSSIBLEgainer. It just means we hardgainers have to be hardworkers and hardeaters. The weight gainer question posed above is good, but needs further review.

1st - What is your calorie goal? For example, I need 3500 to 4000 a day so...the product like N-Large twice a day only accounts for 1/3 of my needs. Be sure to eat quality protein and carbs for calories.

2nd - The concern of fat posted previously is valid but perhaps not important to us hardgainers since we tend to burn fat when we miss a meal. Seriously though, if we noticed a little too much fat, it wouldn't take more than a little tweaking of our diet (perhaps a drop of 300 cals/day) to even the gains out. If your waist goes from 28 to 40, then slow down on the N-Large, but since that's unlikely just keep an eye on yourself.

3rd - Workout: What are you doing in the gym? Focus on compound movements like Deadlifts, Bench, Squats and Military Press.

Realistically don't expect 10 pounds from a tub of N-Large. 3500 calories is one pound so you need to take-in 3500 MORE calories a week than you've used.

P.S. - I use, and standy by 100%, Ultimate Nutrition Muscle Juice 2544. It's better than N-Large because there's Casein protein which is extremely overlooked and very important due to it's slow digesting properties. Better price too.

I still don't see the merit in ingesting 1000 calories in a short period of time from a supplement. Why not just add more real food? I'm not trying to belittle your efforts but are you a beginner? Beginners often get suckered into buying stuff they don't need, the most experienced people I know rely on Whey/dextrose PW, creatine (cheapest available), multivitamins, ZMA and tons of real food.

i totally agree with us hardgainers burning fat when we miss i meal.
i too, am not too concerned with packing on some fat first, i would rather get a fat on me and work hard to work it off, while maintaining the weight.

i work out 4 days a week and have made a journal in its respective forum
cheers

Weight Gainer is great stuff if you want to pack on some serious weight. Of course some will be fat, but some will be muscle too. When I am on weight gainer, my strength gos up and my muscles look nice and full. Weight gainer is the way to go... Good luck.
P.S. Casein is great protein...especially before bed, but if you are trying to gain weight and you need to eat more, I think you will find that casein will make you feel full a lot longer than whey.

Still no one has addressed my question
"What is the logic of ingesting 1000 cal in a short time instead of spreading it out over the day?"
It's your body do what you want but I still can't see why you wouldn't just add more food or at the very least split a 1000 cal serving up into 4 smaller servings spread throughout the day?

You're strenght goes up cause of the carbs in the weight gainer. If you ate a bowl of wheat pasta you'd have to same results. Look, if you want to spend money on this crap, go for it. But you'd get good results (minus a lot of the fat gain) if you just added 400/500 calories in food spread throughout that day. I dont get this instant gratification mentality.
