Giving Creatine Another Shot, Suggestions?
I took a plain ole' GNC creatin monohydrate like a year ago and it didnt really do anything for me so I stopped. But I was thinking about starting up with another product or brand. Is there a brand out there that you guys would suggest.
Also when I took creatine I added it to my Whey Shake post workout with Applejuice and a Bannana. Should I not do this. Like have whey seperate and then another drink with juice and creatine?

If you want plain creatine monohydrate, Prolab or anything with the "creapure" label on it is good quality protein. Go for a brand that is well known and has been around for some time. If you go for a pre-mixed creatine transport system, there are many on the market...do a search on this forum for creatine transport systems (Cell Tech, AST's Creatine HSC, V12Swole, XX CELL, Virtago, and many others). You can also do a look-up on bodybuilding.com to see, compare and order creatine products.
You can add creatine to your whey shake containing apple juice and a banana if you wish to, there is nothing wrong with that, since creatine and protein have their own exclusive transporters within cells...there is no need to fear competition for absorbtion. The only reason people separate creatine drinks with whey drinks is because a) either they don't like to mix juice and protein together all in one drink and/or b) they have a separate pre-mixed creatine drink mix (like Cell Tech), and then they have their protein drink.

I was taking "NOW" Micronized Creatine Mono and thought it was good stuff. I also got 115+ servings for 22 bucks which is hard to beat. I currently am not using creatine just because I'm doing an all natural approach for awhile to let my body level out so to speak. Get a good micronized creatine and mix it with some juice before you drink a protein shake. It's ideal to get those simple sugars in before you take a slower absorbing drink like protein, especially if you mix it with milk like I do.
The reasoning behind seperate drinks is glycogen replenishment.

So simple carbs (like fruit juice) will get through me faster than whey, getting the carbs and creatine to the muscles faster. Then a whey shake after that?

Just get the protein and creatine and mix in some simple carbs like glucose/dextrose ie lucozade or something. Take them together as you want the carbs to create an insulin spike to shuttle the aa of the protein
to your muscles also. The whey will not slow its absorption as it will be rapidly digested unless it was put in milk but you do not want that after a workout.

I would suggest making your creatine dose a separate drink from the whey shake. Creatine does not dissolve in water very well...and is only worse in milk. If you add it to your whey shake, most of the creatine is going to sit on the bottom and sides of the glass, and its not going to go into your system.
Foolproof method: take a spoonful of creatine, put it directly in your mouth, and chase it with a glass of water. Works every time.

Get some micronized creatine, and there will be no worry about creatine sitting on the bottom or sides of glass....it will all dissolve and get into your system easily without any worry. No need to throw creatine down your throat and then chug water/your shake, etc.. :

i do them seperatly. I have a glass of grape juice or apple juice and add a scoop of creatine. the creatine doesnt like to float and it will go to the bottom of the glass, so make sur eyou mix it a couple times while your chuggin down. Then after that drink i have a protein drink, whey and milk.

creatine *is* hard to dissolve, but i find using hot water helps. feels like drinking bathwater tho' otherwise, i might throw it in the blender with my first shake of the day. i once heard a (possibly ill-founded) rumour that citric acid interferes with creatine; could well be baloney, but i avoid fruit juice just in case (anyone shed any light on this?).
or, like someone suggested, you can stuff it in your mouth and down some water. it's not as bad as it sounds

Creatine should not be "mixed" into your shake or other drink the reason for this is it is unstable the moment you mix it with water or other liquid and will quickly turn into a useless byproduct. You are best spooning 5 grams (1 teaspoon) and washing it down with plenty of water. Here is a linkl supporting this method as well as the best Creatine to take and all the other questions you could possibly have about Creatine )with 1000 scientific refrences backnig this information up!)

No don't mix your Cretine into your shake spoon it!
Also you don't want fructiose PWO this will not repenish muscle glycogen and glucose as well as take you out a catabollic state quite like Dextrose and Maltodextrin will.
Heres a link on how to make the most optimal PWO shake possible!

So when it hits the gastric juices of your stomach it becomes inactivated and thus creatine is useless???
Creatine is unstable in liquid but we are talking about seconds in making the shake. I definatly dont agree with a premade creatine drink sitting in your bag while you train but there is no problem mixing with liquid for immediate consumption.
Creatine has to be in solution before you will absorb it anyway.
