good prices for Creatine & Whey?
Today I was shopping in the big city of Joplin, Mo. At least it's big compared to my town. We stopped in at a discount grocery chain that was advertising cheap cantaloupe. While in the store I noticed they had a fairly large supplements section. I found Optimum Nutrition Whey 2lb for $12.98 and 5 lb for $23.98. They had3 or 4 flavor choices. A 600 gram jar of ON Creapure Creatine powder was 16.98. The jar label stated 5000 mg pure Creatine Monohydrate and 120 1 tsp servings.
I'd just bought a 2 lb jar of Body Fortress whey from WalMart or I would have picked up the ON whey. I did grab a bottle of Creatine.
Good prices?

Assuming the "use by" date is still good, thats some of the best prices I have seen straight out of a store,is possible to find cheaper online but shipping wouldnt make it worth while or cost effective.

I'd give my left arm for a local retailer that only charged $23 for 5lbs. of ON. I pay $35 right now.

I'll pick up some my next trip there in a couple of weeks if they still have it at that price. It's 40 miles one way from where I live, so a special trip at today's gas prices isn't worth it--especially in the V8 SUV I drive. Just up the street 2 blocks is a PLay It Again fitness store. They've got new Olympic 300 lb weight sets for $159.00, and I want to get a set. Maybe I can get both in one trip!

Well, I am sure that the prices you got are very good for shops - but try to buy stuff online....its just very much cheaper - shipping isnt too much.

You're probably not going to find 5 lbs of ON for less than 20 bucks in many places, and that isn't including shipping.
Actually, for example, take TrueProtein's plain old WPC.
Once you add the 5 lbs along with the flavoring it comes out to $26.45. After the 5% discount it comes to $25.15 before shipping and tax. Now that is just the plain WPC, not even isolate. Time to add in shipping. Another $7.94 at the cheapest (for ground shipping for me anyway.) Here we are at $33.09 for a tub of whey protein concentrate. At least there's apparently no tax : What is bad though is that I can go to almost any local supplement store and pay less than that. You can pay 3.39 a lb for their protein, true. The catch is that you would have to buy 50 lbs, and I don't know many people who stock that much in their homes at any given time.
Shopping online can be great or it can totally suck. Some companies will make their product seem incredibly cheap, but then the shipping cost becomes insane (and often you can go to another place and find a cheaper shipping cost, probably due to a difference in location I guess.)

Well yes, you will have to buy larger amounts - where is the problem storing 50 lbs? You will need about 4-6 a month with NO problem...maybe even 8....most people do have houses so you will find a place to store....and then the shipping also gets cheaper per pound =)
At least this is how I do it....why buying 5 lbs if I need 50 sometime anyway? =)

I dont see anything wrong with TP's shipping rates
You also have to remember, that you are getting an incredible deal for the product and service you are getting. I mean I could go down to my local kia dealer and get a kia for a lot less than a benz, but thats not saying much. TP sells pure, high quality, bulk protein and supplements with no additives or fillers....you know whats in your tub of protein, with store bought stuff, you really just have to blindly trust the manufacturer.
And yes, there are a lot of people that store 50 pounds...and go through it in probably under a year. Its really not that much.
DAG...no advertising in sigs...i got busted too.

Just making a point. Where exactly are you finding 5 lbs of a whey for "very much cheaper" than $24.00 on a regular basis? Even if you find it for less than $20.00 it'll still probably come close to hitting or breaking $24.00 once you include shipping costs. I used TP as an example because it was the first example of an online retailer that came to mind as it was right there in the sig.

I have been getting my protein off the net. Anywhere from 18.50 to 19.50 for five pounds. Shipping 6.95. A few times I ran out and had to wait for more to be shipped, so to make sure I never ran out again, I let my store buy about eight tubs. I priced it 24.99 and put it on the shelf. Now I always have it on hand when I need it, and we have sold quite a few tubs.
