Question

Grape Juice & Creatine??

Just a quick question guys, everywhere i read on the internet, people are always saying to have creatine with grape juice.I just wondered why creatine is best used with grape juice rather than other juices like orange or apple juice.

Thanks in advance guys:

It's usually rcommended to avoid very acidic liquids with Creatine. I use apple juice or mix the creatine in with my protein shake. Grape juice is high in sugars, needed for the transport of Creatine into the body.

Apple juice has a Ph of around 3.5 and Grape juice has a Ph of around 3.15. Orange juice is up around Ph 4.2. Vinegar is Ph 2.9. The lower the number, the more acidic a substance is. Grape juice is more acidic than OJ. It's amusing to read recommendations to avoid mixing Creatine with acidic liquids, then in the next sentence recommend mixing with grape juice.

Grape juice is recommended as it has a 50:50 glucose to fructose content.
Glucose is optimal for creatine uptake. Most other fruits are 2/3 or greater fructose in sugar content which is no good.

thats correct. grape juice is most often recommended because of its glucose content.

i think dark or light grape juice is personal preference... although I may be wrong and theyre may be a difference. anyways i prefer the white grape juice because i know if i spill it it won't stain anything :

Stomach acid has a pH of 2-4 so would using an antacid increase creatine uptake?
