Welcome to the board chris. Your dad has a point about supplements. You can make incredible gains while your body is still growing without them. Fortunately, the most anabolic substance known to man is readily available. It is food! Sounds simple, but it is true. Eating a good diet high in protein with more cals than you need to maintain your bodyweight is how you get big. All the "magic" supplements (even drugs) pale in comparison to regular food. Give that a try to build up your base. All the supplements out there can't do for you what regular food can.

two common foods that mimic the best supplements:

dry powdered milk can replace protein powders
flax seeds can replace omega3 supplements (ala, cla, gla)

make a weight gainer shake using one cup grape juice, one container yogurt, 1/2 cup fruit, 1 tbls ground flax seeds, 3 tbls powdered milk, one cup of ice, add water if too thick. mix in blender and drink after your workout

take it easy!

I don't want to discourage you, but I honestly think you're a bit young to lift serious weights. Your body is still growing and the extra strain might ( take note - I said MIGHT) cause deformities.
So, all I really want to say is take it easy. Moderation is the way to go.
Good luck.
