It helps to protect against catabolism, so preserving your muscle....probably wouldn't need extra glutamine if your taking it.

I would stay clear of HMB. The studies done on HMB that showed it as useful by minimizing the muscle tissue breakdown used either bed-ridden patients as subjects or ultra-high dosages (25-30 grams per day).
