I used to mix it in a glass of gatorade. I think that should have all the sugars you need for the creatine.

a lot of people, including myself, think its best to take creatine with grape juice. the dextrose gives a nice insulin spike to give it a quick shot to the muscle. i usually mix my creatine and glutamin together in 8-10oz juice.

take the creatine immediately after you work out, while you are drinking your post wo shake. the best way is to directly spoon the creatine into your mouth and wash it down with your shake.

depends on what all is in the shake. you want some sugar for an insulin spike. im pretty sure there is a golden ratio but i dont remember what it is. i would down it in the grape juice.

That sounds pretty disgusting to me, not the best way, in my opinion. Why throw a heap of creatine into your mouth to begin with? Buy micronized creatine monohydrate and mix it into your drink of choice, it will FULLY dissolve with little effort.

Micronized creatine? Is this specified on the labels anywhere Todd, or where should we look for that detail? I haven't used creatine for a year or two now, but I was about to pick up some of the prolabs stuff.

i would go out and buy san v12 turbo...amazing creatine, no calories...as for simple sugars, buy pure dextrose and take that post workout with your mono hydrate

yes by post wo shake i implied that it contains quick digesting sugars (especially maltodextrin), but i should have been more clear. if you arent having a quality insulin spike after you workout all that effort goes to nil

and the reason to scoop the creatine directly into your mouth and wash it down instead of mixing it in fluid is because creatine monohydrate is highly unstable in water. its not as disgusting as it sounds

speedfreak the creatine todd is talking about is this i believe

Yeah thats the problem it will fully desolve into CREATINNE which is a useless byproduct of Creatine. The best way to avoid this happening is to spoon your creatine it is almost impossible to get Creatine not to at least partialy degreade into Creatinne before its in your system but pre mixing it in your shake or other drink will mean you will at the very best get minnimum benefit.(click here for more on Creatine-

its the fourth post down)
On another note Insulin spiking is not optimal anytime except PWO this would cuase you to store more fat than neccessery. An insulin spike is not VITAL for the uptake of Creatine

1.) Are you telling us that Creatine chemically breaks down in a matter of 10 seconds?

2.) It's creatinine, not creatinne. :

Are we saying that an insulin spike is necessary when taking creatine or just optimal?

It's optimal. It's kind of like the difference between taking whey protein at a random time throughout the day, or taking it immediately after a workout. Yes, you'll still see a gain, just not as much. Although with Creatine it isn't quite as sensitive to that.

everyone here says to take creatine post workout, but i've also heard of people taking creatine pre-workout, like creatine - workout - protein

can someone please explain the difference of taking creatine before and after a workout?

THanks,
