Like Jock said, it depends. But we can say this: if you're not on top of your diet and routine then supplements won't be able to give you their full potential. Supplements will not compensate for poor nutrition or workouts.
I would say that your post workout nutrition is the most important thing. You might add a few % with a few supplements, but nothing like with the post workout shake.
Post workout, you should have -- No fat, lots of carbs, some protein. Continue for 3-4 hours. Protein synthesis is up to 400% higher if you eat right. You'll note this is the only time that protein synthesis will start (after exercise).
