how to drink protein after workouts....

I currently take 2 scoops (46 grams protein) of optimum 100% whey about 10-20 minutes after i workout.....i think the stuff pretty bad, and i usually just chug the shake to get it over with. Is that ok? or should i be drinking slower? if i drink that much protein that fast will it effect the rate at which the protein is absorbed into my muscles? thanks in advance,

Yeah, chug away.

A better solution would be to make it taste better. I think there are some recipes around here for specifically this. If you don't like the taste, you are more likely to stop drinking it.

Think of your shake as needed for your muscle and body dont think of it as a milk shake from McDonals. Just chug that baby.

Mike - I do the same thing. My gym is 30 minutes from my house and usually I have to run errands and pick up my son after I workout. So, instead of waiting until I get home to make my shake tastier I just chug it right there in the locker room. Not my favorite meal of the day, but I just deal with it.

Hey fellas,
new to this chat forum, but i've read alot about this topic and just to fill you all in...the best way to make your protein shakes taste the best, but you have to have a blender around, is to make them with milk...it makes them taste delicious... also try adding in a spoonful or two of peanut butter which is really good for you!!! and even some fruit like bannanas and strawberries...or whatever you want...be creative, only bad thing to this is that your supposed to have your post protein shake with water becuase the milk makes the protein absorption slower...i just wanted to let you all know a way to make all your other daily shakes taste better, but for your post shake your gonna just have to chug it...!

That's a lot of carbs for a pre-workout shake. I eat 50g of Oats with 400ml semi-skimmed milk, I also have 2 scoops of N-Large 2 with 250ml of semi-skimmed milk.

You're doin it wrong. Replace 1/2 or 1/3 the water with 1/2 or 1% milk. Add: 1/2 banana,1 tbs natural PB, 4 ice cubes and your supplements if not already taken. Blend 30-45 secs. Enjoy

Id drink it fast.Sometimes if you add to much water it'll taste bad.Try not using as much water and if you like it better drink it like that and just sip on some water after the shake.Works for me.
