how to take protein

hi y'all
is it better to take protein powder with water or milk?
i know that it gets into your system faster with water
but it tastes nicer with milk and you get more protein in the drink
thanks for your help

Well, if you want the extra protein, take it with milk. I do.

My own opinion is to take it whichever way it tastes better, however, I would use water post workout to possibly speed digestion. Yes, milk does add extra protein, so make sure to watch your total carb and fat intake throughout the day. A food log is crucial to telling if you are getting enough nutrients.

If you're taking around 25 grams or more of whey protein at a time, then you'll probably want to mix it with milk. If under 25 grams, then mabey you should mix it with water (assuming you want it to digest quicker). Milk contains both whey and casein protein. Whey protein is the fast-acting protein everyone talks about, but the casein protein, which is also in milk, slows down the digestion of the whey protein. Since whey protein is "short-lived" and whatever isn't digested in a certain time is pretty much wasted, mixing it with milk will help it last longer and you'll get more protein absorbed.

Make sure that you do drink plenty of water when you take protein powder to wash the excess protein out of your system, so that your kidneys stay safe.
