important questions about creatine use.

I started taking a GNC brand of Creatine Plus today. After an intense workout, I mixed 1 heaping teaspoon into a bottle of water, as instructed. Here are the important questions I have regarding this supplement:

1) How much water should i be drinking on days when I take the creatine?
2) On days when I do not work out, should i still be consuming my normal 1 teaspoon of creatine?
3) How soon do results start to show from daily use?
4) Are there any dangers that i should be aware of in taking this?
5) I am a tall skinny guy trying to gain mass and build up in the gym, is creatine going to help assist this goal?

Anyone who knows any information that can help me please let me know. Thanks alot!

Read this thread through first, if you have any questions after that try again. It has a lot of info on creatine.

1. no matter what drink 2 cups of water with every meal, get as much water as you can thruout the day!!!
2. Yes
3. Depends. Cycle the creatine, meaning use it for a month then off it for a month, still do the creatine load every month you start back on it.
4. Their is no real study that it harms you that is why they say to cycle it cause your body cleanses itself when your not using it.
5. all depends on how your body reacts to it, some it helps others it don't

Tweeter's given you the answers you're looking for. The only advice I'd add is to mix your creatine in with gatorade post-workout, not plain water. The sugar will spike your insulin which will be depleted after the workout. As well, the insulin spike will allow more creatine to get to those much needed muscles.

Hope that helps,
Stocky

Most creatine cycles are usually 3 months on, 1 month off. Some people don't even cycle it, so it is ultimately up to you. The thought behind cycling is so that your body doesn't stop producing it naturally (it hasn't been proven that your body will stop producing it... it is just a precaution). Check out the sticky on it in this forum, and you can also check out www.absolute-creatine.com for more info. The main thing is to eat a ton and train hard... that is where the real gains come from. ~Steve
