Depends whether the tub is sealed shut, if it is then go ahead...6 months is not that much, if it were a year I would be a bit worried....but I'd still drink it lol. Creatine is the same, will be fine if it is sealed...
Expiration dates for the most part is a ploy for people to throw stuff out. With the exception of tetracycline which does break down into toxic metabolites over time I say if it doesn't taste bad or have green mold on it use it.
most things really dont "expire" take a tub of vanilla icecream, leave it in your freezer for 3 years and open it. it may have ice crystals on it and lose some of its creaminess, but it wont harm you to eat it.
The role of protein powder is to provide the system with all nine essential amino acids in large amounts.
Taking expired protein powder, is unlikely to cause any problems but is also likely to be ineffective due to vitamins, amino acids, etc. Supplement companies put an expiration date on the label to assure you of good potency.
With creatine is the same problem.
If you really want to have the max. results I would recommend you to use protein power and creatine with unexpired term of the original warranty.

Don't be fooled that because something looks OK that it hasn't deteriorated.
The freezer is a good example. Foods left in the freezer still do go rancid or bad, just at a slower rate. Freezer burn is a good indication that some nutrition has been lost (dehydration).
Creatine s a very unstable and excess creatinine and other wastes can be toxic I would not take it. However for such reasons there is generally a generous margin given for handling transport and non ideal storage conditions that would effect stability.
